News & Notes From Around PioNation

(above) DU alum Joe Colborne is competing for a slot on the Boston Bruins roster this Fall

College Hockey News ranked the Top 10 teams for the upcoming season. No mention of DU in the ranking or even "teams to watch." Some of the teams that CHN think are better than DU? Yale, RPI, Alaska & Merrimack to name just a few. What a joke.

The Star in Toronto has an excellent article on Tyler Bozak. Tyler talks about hitting the fast food during his DU days.
----------
Two articles on former DU star Joe Colborne this week. The first deals with his Junior A days in Camrose and the second talks about his time at DU.

"Expect Wisconsin to play with a well-deserved chip on their shoulders. ... Minnesota, Denver and Nebraska-Omaha will also all be worth watching, for a variety of reasons, and should make for another wild season in the WCHA, which now has 12 teams."

I guess you forgot to read the whole CHN article.

Lets look back to the previous few seasons - DU is highly ranked, even as the #1 spot - they lose in the first round of the NCAAs. Mega bummer. In my opinion, the writers who create these lists only look at the players who left and the players who remain because the freshman are such questionmarks. Fact - DU lost not only tremendous graduating seniors last year, but they also lost the players that Gwoz knew were leaving early. Too bad. The good news is that he knew that we were losing those players and brought in a killer group of young guys to take thier places. I think that its great that we are not expected to be the #1 all season, it will make for more realistic situations. Remember 2004? We have a trophy and nobody, not even writers in Sept of 2003, thought that we would have it.

Another article on Bozak and his diet (I remember Chipotle burritos from a while back). The guy clearly loves to eat.

Well whatever; but one thing's for sure - we'll all be watching Colorado College suck! I honestly think the Beavers will have abetter season than the Tigers!
