The Penticton Vees Blog made the official announcement on Thursday that Joey LaLeggia (5'10 170 lbs.) has committed to the University of Denver. If Pentiction sounds familiar to DU fans, its because Beau Bennett played there last season and was a teammate of LaLeggia.
While Bennett was leading the British Columbia Hockey League in scoring, LaLeggia was the leading scoring defenseman (13g, 52a). Both players accomplished the feat as league rookies.
Laleggia was not drafted by any team during the 2010 NHL Entry Draft because of his size. But like Tyler Bozak, that might work in his favor if he has a successful collegiate career.
He has been described by coaches and scouts as a player who, "Sees the ice well, is offensively gifted, an incredible skater that makes precise passes, competes hard every game, and is intelligent beyond his years when it comes to the game of hockey."
LaLeggia had originally committed to the University of New Hampshire as a 15 year-old. Last month he backed out of his commitment and that obviously opened the door for DU.

Mr.laleggia obviously has fallen and injured his head.
Gwoz loves speedy puck handling defenseman. Think Patrick Mullen but way more potential upside.
He's a "star" alright.
I've meet his sister though.
She's got LaLegg's that just won't quit.
Good choice, LaLeggia. You are joining one of the premier programs in the country.....welcome to DU.
