Boston College 6 - DU 2 Final

Boston College jumped out to a 5-0 lead and cruised the rest of the way to a convincing 6-2 victory in Magness Arena in front of a stunned sold out crowd.

BC scored the lone goal in a highly contested 1st period. Joe Whitney scored BC's goal at 16:33 of the period with assists to Cam Atkinson and Philip Samuelsson. DU had some good chances that BC goaltender John Muse made some nice saves on.

The Eagles exploded with four goals in the 2nd period to make it 5-0 before DU could get on the board late in the period. Turnovers cost DU many of the Boston College goals. Luke Salazar scored DU's lone goal of the period at 15:35 with assists from Jesse Martin and Kyle Ostrow.

The third period saw DU close within three goals when Luke Salazar scored his second of the night at the 4:50 mark. The assists went to David Makowski and Paul Phillips. BC iced the game with a shorthanded goal at the 7:48 mark when Brian Gibbons skated the puck around a falling down DU d-man and raced in unscathed on Adam Murray. The final shots were DU 29 BC 34.

DU and BC face each other again on Saturday night to close out this two game series.

Nice turnout...Homecoming weekend and you still can't put asses in the seats. What a joke! No wonder you can't get players to stick around.

Student section's packed, and that's what's important.

We've been outclassed this period, I'll say that. BC is FAST.

We looked good on that 5 on 3 though. Couple bad bounces could have tied the game up had they gone the other way. Hopefully we can build on that.

Watching BC is something every hockey fan should truly appreciate. They played and skated like national champions.

There are a few adjustments DU needs to make for tomorrows game. (1) DU needs to improve their coverage at the blue line. (2) DU needs to control the pace of the game. BC is fast and scored most of their goals on the rush. It's going to be interesting to see how DU responds tomorrow.

Tough night for the Pios. After a solid start DU was undone by a boatload of turnovers, sloppy passing, poor defensive coverage, and a lousy transition game. The 2nd period was abysmal. DU did have some late PP chances but couldn't capitalize.

Good to see Salazar get on the board. Murray wasn't great overall, but he made several very nice saves.

BC is the real deal. They jumped on loose pucks, used their speed and quickness up the ice, exploited DU's mistakes, and looked like a veteran team out there tonight. Plus they have some size and some guys who can bang. I didn't see any weaknesses. I'm not real optimistic about tomorrow but we'll see.

BC is a terrific team that was full value for the victory, The Eagles buried their chances as experienced teams do/

Sure, the Pios had a rough night and made it easy for BC with all kinds of turnovers, but this BC team is very very good - fast. sure handed and defensively responsible.

Hopefully, DU makes it closer on Saturday, but right now, this BC team is the best team in the country for a reason....

Boston fans are too confident as evidence of these postings. How many times can you count a team doing well at the beginning of a season and then turning out to be trash later on. Obviously, DU sucked it up tonight. But seriously, don't count your eggs before they hatch... This in no way was evident of how DU normally plays and DU fans and BC fans alike should know that.

I doubt very much these are BC fans ripping DU- more likely UND and CC fans having a good laugh at DU expense.

Frankly, the Pios deserve it tonight - they were awful and BC got the job done.

When you get your ass handed to you, there's only one thing to do. Play fanatical team defense the next night.

reminds me of my freshman year 10 years ago when BC came in for homecoming...

Wasn't afun night for DU fans. BC played like the #1 Team.

BC was as good as advertised. DU will need to play great team defense, cut down on the turnovers and odd man rushes, and get traffic in front of Muse to have any chance tonight.

Yeah, DU needs to: (1) Have defense, (2) have offense, (3) get the goalie to stop all shots

Man, to me....BC looked alot like DU did last year. Even more so with the maroon & gold jerseys they have! Good wakeup call for the DU team. Hopefully they learned some lessons on Friday. They ebetter understand that there's more teams just as good as BC are, standing in line to take it to DU every weekend for the next month.
