Denver Post: Great Brittain's Stats Dominate WCHA

(above) Sam Brittain is the top Freshman goaltender in college hockey

From: Denver Post
by Mike Chambers

Mike Chambers has an article on Great Brittain's goaltending statistics, which are tops among Freshmen and in the Top Ten nationally.

In the same article he also has an update on Jesse Martin who is now undergoing outpatient therapy at Denver's CU Sports Medicine facility.

Finally, look who is #1 & #2 in the WCHA in scoring. None other than Drew Shore and Jason Zucker.

I am just a little perplexed by George's comments about playing Murray. Short of a meltdown by Sam, what would prompt Gwoz to resume platooning them?

I can see Murray playing Friday night.

Being a Colorado transplant and DU fan originally from MI, I'm just excited about seeing all these Michigan teams in our arena this year! USNTDP, the Lakers, Wildcats and the Huskies! Hell, I wish the Spartans & Wolverines were coming too, because DU is better than them ALL!!!

I am pretty sure the Spartans and Wolverines have never been back to play DU in the regular season since they left the WCHA. Even with Gwoz's connections to MSU, I just don't see either of those schools coming to Denver to play OOC games. They want the gate by hosting OOC games at their arenas and have no shortage of schools willing to go to their arenas and play them. DU does a lot of home and home OOC series in back-to-back years with top opponents like BU, BC, Maine, Notre Dame, Vermont, among others. MSU and MI don't do that.

That picture of same was during his most dominate performance. He really held CC to nothing in the Springs they only scored 6 on him in 2 periods.

Another comment from the WCHA Cellar.

Murray has to play sometime, if only to find out if he can play at this level. You also need to keep your backup sharp in case you need him to step in at som epoint.

I am thinking that LSSU will be a good test for Murray. AFA has become something of a rivalry game in recent years, and should be Sam's game to start.

Gwoz needs to let Murray have a little playing time to keep him from wanting to transfer. I see him wanting to leave regardless, but you definitely need to make sure you keep him fresh for this year as backup at the very least.

Lake State will be a very tough test. They did put up 6 on UMD...

I can't see Murray transferring. At the end of the day he's receiving a $50,000 a year education.

Trying to find a school that has a starting goaltending spot available & would be willing to give him a full ride is usually pretty difficult. Plus he'd have to sit out a year.

He needs to take advantage of the opportunities he gets and make the decision to play him an easy one for the coaches.

Maybe Gowz will bring him with when he bolts to PSU?

I don't see Gwoz going to PSU. If he wanted the Big 10 life, he would have jumped at ealrier offers from MSU and Wisconsin instead of turning them down. DU ia getting top recruits, and Colorado is a nicer place to live then State College, Pa. where he'd be a curiosity rather than a legend.

At the end of the day it's all about the pay check.
