DU 4 - Minnesota State 3 FINAL OT

(above) Raise your hand if you choked up a three goal lead and lost the game in overtime

After giving up 3 goals in the first 22 minutes against Minnesota State, the University of Denver staged an epic comeback on Saturday night.

Beau-Bennett.com scored to pull DU within two in the second period, but the Pioneers still trailed 3-1 with nine minutes to play in the game. Then Nick Shore & Jason Zucker scored goals within two minutes of each other to level the score.

Dustin Jackson scored the game winner just 19 seconds into Overtime to stun the Mavericks.

Great Pioneer comeback win on the road against a good MSUM team. There is some real character on this team that enables these comebacks, and good teams win road games. The Pioneers really helped themseves with a three point road weekend, while the other good WCHA teams split.

That said, DU can't continue to dig these early holes for themselves all season long. Hope Gwoz can find a cure for these slow starts....

Amazing weekend for the Pioneers. Mankato has improved a lot since earlier in the season.

In the WCHA its not only who and where you play the games but when you catch the teams. Mankato is on the upswing in the 2nd half of the season.

I'm still in shock over that win. Yes I'm pissed DU put themselves in that hold to begin with but the character they showed fighting back and never giving up is a whole other thing. I'm proud of the boys tonight but I hope they learned a lesson tonight.

DU only has one loss in their last 14 games. Amazing streak considering the injuries and games missed by top line players.

These games are very stressful for fans who are watching the games. It`s one thing to read about comeback wins. It`s another to be watching your team lay an egg and then claw their way back.

I will believe that Denver has a legitimate national contender when they have a series where they are not trailing for most of the weekend!

DU was leading for 14 seconds this weekend. They had a brief 2-1 lead late in the second period on Friday night.

Somehow they came away with three points. Amazing.

The Good News: Colorado College was swept by UAA 2-1 on Saturday night.

The Bad News: Next up fron DU is UAA.

The Jaden Schwartz injury is proving to be very costly.

HA! The comment under the picture is hilarious...yet so damn true. I'm still shaking my head over last night's loss and even Friday's tie. The Mavs should have swept DU and have 3 of our own players to blame for it all. GRR!

Dammit....mother Zucker!

Will the Denver students be back for the Seawolves' games? With all the DU home games we had for a while there during the holidays, I almost forgot what the student section is like. We need to get the rink loud again

All the games over the holidays? Really? By my count, we have had exactly 2 home games in the past month and a half. Unless I have amnesia or something, we haven't been spending much time at the arena since the month of November.

In addition to N. Michigan, we had the tournament over Thanksgiving, too.

Anon has a point - the Crimson Creature section has been kind of bare for a while. With classes back, the only excuse is that they either all went skiing or they're at the Stock Show...

While ski season is in full force, student turnout is alwys iffy for historically lower division opponents.

There are only four more home weekends left(UAA, CC, MTU and SCSU) during the school term to see the Pioneers.

Only CC should will likely have a large student turnout...

The Athletic Department is heavily promoting students to attend Hoops games, so the only way to get large student turnouts against UAA, SCSU & MTU would be for enterprising students to promote the Student Section themselves.

I can see thier concern about selling hop tix. Take a look at the girls basketball crowds....talk about packing them in like sardines - Night after night it's a standing room only, insane rowdy crowd.....
