The week off showed in the first period .We were a step behind. It was the difference .Tomorrow will be different.

the third period showed how well we can play cc 5 on 5... unfortunately, the refs made sure there was little even strength hockey. we WILL win tomorrow for the pan

Wild game ... refs were super inconsistent on both sides IMO.

Should be nice and violent on Saturday night.

Twister,

Tell us again how many points you expect for the weekend.

DU laid an egg last night. I was very surprised and disappointed. DU started very poorly, got down early, and it was uphill from there. The Pios were not sharp at all in the first period, looked as though they were skating with lead weights on their legs, and just didn't execute very well. They made it interesting at the end, but it was too little too late.

I sure hope for a better result tonight.

Anon 8:59,

I predicted 3-4 points this weekend for DU and turned out wrong. What's your point?

My point is that your are expecting alot out of a team that is severely overrated.

DU lacks leadership and scoring from is upperclassman. If you are depending on scoring from underclassman to carry you down the home stretch, you are in deep
s##t.

The Pioneers will be fine. Losing 3-2 in a rivalry game on the rival's home ice and while coming off a bye week is does not indicate "severely overrated." This team has only lost twice since November.

The Pioneers predictably were a bit rusty from the be week in the first and CC took advantage of it. In the second and third, DU played much better as they became acclimated to game speed.

Both teams skated hard, and created good chances. In this league at this time of year, almost any team is capable of beating another, especially in a rivalry game.

Expect another tight game tonight.

Anon 9:32,

State your case--I'm all ears. DU has been at or near the top of the WCHA for the entire season. Goaltending has been solid, the freshmen class is oustanding, and Kyle Ostrow is a true team leader. Only two losses since Nov. I'm not sure how you define overrated??

Who cares who scores the goals? Goals from freshmen count as much as goals from seniors. Whoever scores the goals scores the goals. And your statement on DU lacking leadership rings hollow and is vague and unsubstantiated. But again, state your case---that is what the comments section is for.

Enjoy the regular season DU homers......DU = Yale-west.

And exactly where does CC stand in the pairwise and WCHA?

Come April, they will be home as usual.

COLORADO SPRINGS — In front of a sellout crowd of 7,571 at the World Arena, the No. 20 Colorado College Tigers beat the No. 2 Denver Pioneers, 3–2,in a game that wasn’t nearly as close as t he score might indicate......

Nice showing DU.....who again have you played since November?

Oh I know, you are anxious to hang another banner. You could have one that says you beat DU on 2/4/11.

It's a sure bet you won't be hanging any others in the near future.

All together now:

CC SUCKS

I disagree that the game wasn't close. First period wasn't. CC dominated. DU dominated all but the last 4 minutes of the 3rd after one unfortunate mistake. DU played at least even in the 3rd. CC did play better, but it wasn't a shameful blowout...

All but the last 4 mins of the 2nd*

Love the pic of Boone's counterpart, hugging some DU fans. Those, you Carnival workin, Tiger-suit wearin, Walt Disney World reject... are real WOMEN! Quite a contrast to the skanky HoBags you see in Colorado Springs, eh?

I still can't believe we didn't get a couple penalty shots last night. The hook on the breakaway and then the net pushing when we had a chance to score. I thought I was watching the Avs vs. Preds game a couple weeks back.

That said DU shot themselves in the foot with that terrible D last night. Letting CC walk in, turn over in their own zone / slot, no drive to the net. It was a pretty disappointing effort on DU's part.

One student started trashing Murrey to and as someone who's given a ton of criticism to him, I thought he had a very strong game last night.

Tonight they will be in our building, no Olympic ice sheet, it will be more grinding and DU will have the support. Take care of business tonight...

BTW what they hell was going on last night, no student bus no major student support. Were they afraid we drown them out again, or was that the DU higher ups being pricks?

All you DU fans say is 57.... When you can get the gold pan back then you can talk....

Pretty sad when your Holy Grail is the Gold Pan.

We still have the Gold Pan, nutsack. Get your head out of your ass.

I hear a lot of support for Murray ... I'm sure he's a great guy and all, but so much apologies for him, that shot through the slot should've been a fourth goal. He seems apprehensive and a half-tic behind the play so often, I just don't think he has the skills at this level. It would be like me trying to play goalie, I could practice my butt off, but I'm NEVER going to have the skill set. I don't see him ever becoming a top-tier netminder. He seems lost out there, like the kid who got into the 'gifted' class on hard work, but can't keep up.

Hey 2:49:00 we have the Gold Pan right now. Shows how much you know.

Also just shows where CC is at where all they care is getting the gold pan. This is your national championship and this will be the only thing you will contend for. Pathetic

What game were you watching? Murray played a good game and made a couple of great saves that kept us in the game.Blame the goals were on the crappy defense in front of him.

Anonymous said...

I think Murray's problem is as much emotional toughness as it is skill set. No, he doesn't move as fast as Brittain but there's ways around that as a goalie. I was surprised he played as well as he did in the 2nd and 3rd last night after the way he played in the first. Usually once he's cracked, he's done for.
