Pioneer Vision craps out again.

that's a sweet looking arena.

If the WCHA was smart they would link up all the schools webcasts and charge fans a flat fee for the season ($50-100) and you could watch every conference game home and away.

If DU was smart, they would give PioneerVision away for free and sell Boone merchandise to pay for it all.

People who want to watch the game on Friday night and don't have Altitude2 can probably hit any good local sports bar that has DirecTV.

Thats if DU were smart. The only reason I bought pioneer vision was cause there's no way I can turn on a radio or TV and expect to find the game in England.

Amy - if you have a good friend or relative that lives in the US and $200, buy the SlingBox, have them hook it up to their TV, and then you can watch their TV on your computer just like you were sitting in their living room. It's good quality too. Great for not only DU hockey (which is definitely the most important) but also any other American programming that you want to see. If they have a DVR box it's a huge plus too so you don't have to worry about the time change.

I know that one DU fan used Slingbox for several seasons that he was based in Japan. Said it worked great.

The actual arena is at the far end of this shot. This picture is of the convention center end of the building.

FYI, the Qwest seats 16,680 for hockey:

You just had to get lil Amy going on the slingbox again... lol

She's been getting on the family to get one for months now. I know our aunts were trying to do it... but I don't know what's causing the delay.

Anyways... this will be DU first real test in quite some time. I hope we can get the split. UNO been consistently good all season and for all we know this series could decide who wins the MacNaughton Cup.

It just hit me... why are we on Altitude 2? I hope Kroenke isn't putting his dirty hands on our Pioneers... just the thought makes me want to throw up. He's already ruined my Avs.

Not sure the details of why its on Altitude2. Good question to ask Bacher on the Live Blog.

Either way, its awesome that they are showing the game and we should be greatful.

I don't know what your loyalties are to the Colorado Avalanche... but he's taken a once proud team and put them down the crap hole. Even the presentation on Altitude is terrible. Mike Haynes is not himself anymore, Julie Browman is probably one of the dumbest sports personalities ever... stick to basketball, and EVERYONE loves to drink the kool-aid. You can't put glitter and fluff on crap and make it look better... it's still crap.

I miss the days of Charlie Lyance, Fox Sports, public tv games, cheap tickets and real fans going to the games.

My guess is that the altitude 2 broadcast is a bonus/courtesy feed pick-up from UNO that Fox didn't want because they had something else in that timeslot. I don't believe Alititude is staffing the game with Denver crew - just relaying the same home Nebraska feed to a Denver audience.

"If the WCHA were smart".... LMAO.... ROTFL..... LOL...
This could be a great ongoing discussion topic for this blog, just like "You might be a redneck if....."
Let me tell you something - if the WCHA were smart, the Shepherd family wouldn't have thier grubby little hands locked around this ridiculous little officiating mafia they have going on.

Is it whining Friday? Lighten up people! Go DU!

Just for the record we can get DU games on FCS and they are not on at all this weekend, which is very disappointing, it would be fun to watch this series.

I must admit--I'm a bit nervous about this series, not really knowing what kind of team DU is right now. Combine that with the quality of the opponent, and it's an unsettling feeling. To me, there are some burning questions:

(1) Goaltending: will we see elite goaltending this weekend or will the recent ugly propensity to let in a soft one continue?

(2) Who will be the on-ice leaders this weekend? It starts with the guys who wear the As, but it certainly doesn't end there.

(3) Will we see the effort level that is required to be an championship caliber team? Or will we see more slow starts, inconsistent effort, and guys playing hard for 40 minutes, not 60?

(4) Can DU rebound from its last road game, an ugly loss to Minny, and beat a tough team in what will likely be a loud and hostile environment?

(5) Forecheck--I hope DU can force the other team's d-men to be uncomfortable.

(6) Matt Donovan--will he put everything together and become a more complete player?

I'm cautiously optimistic that DU can win at least one game this weekend, but I'm not going to bet the farm.

Bet the farm. :-)

Imaws Kcup said...

Bet the farm. This team is going through a bit of a rough patch the last 3 weeks but they have what it takes to be a champion.

And don't get fooled into thinking that late season regular season record is indicitive of post-season success or failure. Last year's team was 11-1 its last 12 regular season games. And 13-1 if you include 1st round WCHA playoff. Then they proceeded to lose the next 3 and have their season ended prematurely.

This team will crank it up in the NCAAs and make it to St. Paul. They have what it takes.

AArgh!!!! Short handed goal within the first 7 minutes. Get on track guys...you are playing men tonight...not boys!

The arena is beautiful but the fans are NASTY!

DU/CC Dad said...

We're playing like a bunch of limp dicks....It's playoff time!!!!

Ba da boom Ba da Bing tied...down by one again...

Another game, another lousy start for the Pios. Getting tired of this story.

Maverick fans are real a*holes. Not a fun to be a fan of the opposing team here.

As the season winds down, this does not appear to be a team that will go anywhere in the playoffs ... more short-handed goals, terrible passing, bad defense, overmatched goal-tending ... Is it the injuries? Am I missing something? Is this team better than it looks? Because I'm just not convinced this is a team anyone fears playing right now. Thoughts? -- Chase

That was a tough game to watch. DU got owned...hopefully there is some payback for the runs at Murray and some of the hits after the whistle because UNO handed us our collective asses tonight.

Coaches need to wake up and start getting some new PP lines and shake up the lines all these draft picks decide how long a shift they take out here. When you only play 3lines all season your going to get tired and thats what happened. It's been the same thing every year 3 lines all season and then when it's crunch time we run out of gas.

Anonymous said...

The first good team du has played since Nov......if you think you can win big games with freshman and sophomores on your first line, you're smoking some good shit. Du is the most overrated team in the country.....period end of subject.

Mitch said...

I thought the UNO fans were nice.

achsdu17 said...

UNO owned that game and all the credit to them they kicked our ass. DU has some good chances but they were terrible on the PP and two short handed goals... what the hell DU? Also the transition game was no where to be found.

As I said, I hope we at least split this series so I'm looking for DU to have a better effort tomorrow.

Side note, DU needs to get thir crap together soon. It's pretty bad when you play your worst hockey towards the end of the season.

Is it too late for me to add: 'Bet the farm!'?

Anonymous said...

Forget the farm, the Swami predictions, the Gold Pan, the McNaughton, pairwise, recruits or anything else. No way in hell this team is ready for the post-season and the National Tourney. NO WAY. .....there, I said it. It pains me to say and think that, trust me. Can we please muster something up next weekend at home ice, for the out-going Seniors.....and for the fans.....and somehow sweep St. Cloud?? PLEASE

Anonymous said...

Good luck with that.

DU is who we thought they would be, they teased us with a nice run. The chinks in the armor were there all season. Full credit to UNO,they are solid.

Imaws Kcup said...

I know it feels like the sky is falling, but it's not. And let's not try to rewrite history - like the guy who said that DU runs out of gas in the 3rd. I'm pretty sure DU has far outplayed its opponents in the 3rd this year.

A split on the road against the #3 or #4 team in the WCHA would be a great result that we would all have been happy for if it wasn't after a series of 3 consecutive splits.

DU can save face tonight and get back on track.
