Hockey Day In Minnesota Weekend: DU 2 - MN 1

(above) If VW can roll out mini-Darth Vader, who's to say mini-Boone can't steal the hearts and minds of DU hockey fans

How many Stanley Cups (2) and National Championships (9) does Colorado need to win before DU gets a little street cred in Minneapolis? Be that as it may, DU rolled to an ugly 2-1 win over the Gophers on Friday night in Mariucci Arena.

Minnesota outshot, outhustled, outhit the Pioneers all night long, but at the end of the day Jason Zucker's spectacular end to end goal was the difference in a tight fought victory. And to the victors go the spoils. DU stands along in first place in the WCHA.

DU goaltender Sam Brittain was the difference recording 36 saves, many at close range.

Drew Shore scored a goal midway in the 2nd Period answering the lone Minnesota goal.

Definitely would not have won this one if the rotation was on. Murray isn't going to steal you a game and Big Sam can...

Sam was great, but DU missed many breakaways as well.

Would like to see DU get in front early once in a while..,,

DU can play better....

So what are the odds that Zucker is one and out?

Was that a high stick on DU's 1st goal?

A pretty strong DU crowd on hand last night too...Alums were having a reunion. I counted about 30 Denver people in the lower corner......
