Minnesota rolled to an easy 7 to 3 victory on Saturday night in Mariucci Arena. Denver went into the game with a six game winning streak against the Gophers.

DU scored an early power play goal that was disallowed on a replay. That was all the Gophers needed and they ripped off six straight goals.

Beau Bennett, Chris Knowlton and John Lee scored for the Pioneers in the third period.

Despite the loss, DU remains tied for 4th in the Pairwise Rankings, The Pioneers trail North Dakota by one point in the WCHA standings.

A puck-moving freshman defensemen having to provide a physical spark? Impressive upperclassman leadership.

1. Makowski is 21 and can handle himself as well as any upperclassman, and definitely got the better of his Minnesota counterpart.

2. The fight happened long after the game was out of reach. It was just a bit of frustration on DU's part.

Any video of the fight in question?

Goon:

The fight really wasn't that great - not worth looking for on video. The refs were in the middle of it the whole time, and most of the punches thrown had to be thrown around the refs, etc.

Nice job by the crack staff at the Denver Post reporting the fighter to be William Wren. How did he sneak back into the lineup??!!!

The Denver media continues its downward slide.
