shram: Yeah, I agree. This team should be strong enough to sweep teams like SCSU (and CC, Mich.Tech, etc). When we drop one game and then win on Saturday, it smacks of a minor meltdown that could easily carry into tournament season and spell bad news...yet again.
Of course you realize that it's very difficult to sweep any team, especially in the WCHA, especially on their own ice? DU's doing much better than expected in this 'rebuilding year', and we need to try to support them and not criticize, especially with stuff like "we should sweep every team below us in the rankings".
Yes, I'm well aware that it's difficult. I should have put some more disclaimers or whatever in my post. All I'm trying to say is that I think we should be doing better, and that I'm fearful of another meltdown in the postseason, which could bring with it uglier ramificaitons, like: --losing Gwoz? --losing $ from the athletics dept? --losing fans at a time we really need more of them? --losing some committed recruits as they perceive that du's not what it used to be?
Why is it that fans always blame the loss on something they perceive the Pios did or didn't do rightly or wrongly? Why not give some credit to the other team and consider what they did to WIN the game as opposed to what the Pios apparently did to lose the game? "Meltdowns" are not always necessarily self-induced...UNO is a good team with an excellent coach, we could have easily gone there, played well and still got swept...
I don't think anyone has a problem with losing to UNO (taken by itself). The problem is that it came after splits with CC, Minn and Tech.
Really, the only black mark for the Pios the last 4 weeks is the Tech loss. Splitting with rival is ok, splitting with gophs in mariucci is ok, splitting with UNO in Omaha is ok.
I think, the terd we laid against Tech ruins a lot of people's perception of the other recent series that we have played. Also, all of these splits have come after a 13-1-2 record, or whatever it was. Losing 4 out of 8 doesn't feel quite the same.
Meh...Tech was gonna win one sometime. They just had to. I thought they played a solid game. I agree it's a game that we should have won but it just didn't happen that night and sometimes that really is just how it goes...

Nice job on the new Code Red video!!!
Inspiring, but, sadly, it's seeming like we'll need more support Friday night then Saturday. We need the sweep!
Wow!! D.G. I'm ready!!
Wow!! D.G. This video gave me serious wood. I'm at work... I think I'll close the door to my office and rub one out with this thing on replay!

A little paranoid maybe, I don't know...flame on.
