News & Notes From Around PioNation

The Tri-Cities Americans (WHL) signed 15 year-old goaltending phenom Eric Comrie to a professional contract last week, effectively ending his NCAA eligibility.  He most likely would of come to DU if he had gone the college route.

A North Chokota fan punched a hole in the Xcel Center in St. Paul during the Frozen Four, while others flipped off Michigan players after goals were scored against the Fighting Sioux.  In a related story, the UND Board of Regents unveiled the school's new logo that captures the spirit of the hockey program, while honoring the proud history of the previous Native American logo.
----------
Denver Post columnist Ed Quillen suggests in an editorial about Metro State's proposed name change to Denver State University, that the administrators are "piggybacking on DU's reputation."  Will DU's administration ever say anything publicly about this issue?
----------
Fresh off upsetting #4 ranked Duke last weekend, the DU lacrosse team will play at the Bronco's Invesco Field this weekend against Ohio State.  Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased via TicketMaster.com or for $12 on the day of the game at Invesco Field.

the jealosy continues.....can't write anything about DU hockey, so let's write some worthless s##t to get a rise out of some Sioux fans. You better look in the mirror to see what choking looks like.

A note on Eric Comrie...

Comrie, for everyone's information, played Midget Major here in California for the LA Selects. I spoke with his (now former)coach here at the CA state championships back in February and he told me that Comrie never really had any intention of going the college hockey route. Comrie made known his intentions known of going the WHL route long before he actually signed. So whether it was DU or anyone else, college hockey never really had a chance to get him unfortunately.

BTW DG, you did get the story I sent you on Jim Eagle, right?

I like how Sioux fans have nothing better to do than to seek out anything relating to them and claim it's jealousy.

Just cause we talk about you doesn't mean we want to be like you. I wouldn't trade images or character for a few more wins a season or one more in the postseason. Jealous of the wins? Maybe. I can own up to that. Facts are facts. But I'm not jealous of the mullets or windbreakers. Or of Grand Forks, even with the Ralph.

To bad about Comrie so who will the next DU sieve be?? DG how is the diet?

DG may have a few extra pounds around the middle, but he can lose them. What are you gonna do about your ugliness?

Not one mention of a UMD winning the national championship ........zero class blogging. The jealousy continues.

Well North Dakota fans...nobody here may like you (I certainly don't), but you do have one fan for sure, Barry Melrose. In the Frozen Four Finale game, he said the words "North Dakota" about a hundred times. I guess attempting to redeem himself from looking like an asshole during the selection show, more or less guaranteeing that the suck-ass Sioux would win it all - according to Barry, who knows all about ice hockey. So don't worry - maybe he'll pickup a round of burgers at the truck stop in Grand Forks sometime for y'all.

I for one am ecstatic about UMD winning. Great for them and the conference. They won it on hard work as much as skill. The game Saturday was a blast, both teams really worked the entire 60+ minutes.

I was celebrating on Saturday night, sorry I didn't happen to do it here on the blog. Assuredly classless of me.

Jordan,

Can you grill up my fav? Tube steak smothered in underwear?

I hear there's a great place in Grand Forks with that as their specialty. I think it's a chain too, probably a franchise in the Springs. Though the possum is only available at the ND location I think. I think Hakstol, Hextall, and Owens are all partners.
