DU connections gets a ton of facetime on Day 2 of the NHL Draft telecast. Mayfield, Nick Shore and Larraza were all interviewed and came across really well.

Didier is the guy who rose the most compared to his projected ranking. He might have the biggest upside five years down the road.

Beau Bennett (Penguins)
Sam Brittain (Panthers)
Josiah Didier (Canadiens)
Zac Larraza (Coyotes)
John Lee (Panthers)
Scott Mayfield (Islanders)
Paul Phillips (Blackhawks)
Drew Shore (Panthers)
Nick Shore (Kings)
Jason Zucker (Wild)

Brings the total to 10....you can also add 1 if you count David Carle (Lightning)

Well, hindsight vision is better that 20/20; but with ALL due respect to Sammy B.....why and how did we let the goalie Gibson from USANDTPU18 escape the killer Miller iron recruiting claws? Woulda coulda shoulda........That's like seeing a sssssmokin hot blonde strut by you and your wife as you're on the beach on your honeymoon, and trying not to look LOL

BUT WAIT! Each of you fail to mention one minor detail in all of this.... that CC SUCKS!

Supposedly a very good goalie is coming in this season. Stay tuned.

Congrats to all the those drafted. Looking forward to seeing them wearing the Crimson and Gold.
Even though he wasn't drafted, Joey LaLeggia could still be the freshman surprise.

LaLeggia won't be much of a surprise, its more likely he'll be battling Rocco Grimadi for WCHA Freshman of the Year.

Laleggia's Resume:

- BCHL All-Star Team 2011
- BCHL Best Defenseman 2011
- BCHL C0-MVP 2011
- BCHL Most Assists 2011
- BCHL Most Assists by Defenseman 2010 & 2011
- BCHL Most Goals by Defenseman 2011
- BCHL Most Points by Defenseman 2010 & 2011

As of now our draft eligible players for the 2012 Draft include:

Tyler Pham
Dakota Mermis
Matt Van Voorhis
Brad Hawkinson
Landon Smith

None of the players mentioned above are 6'0, much less 6'2 or 6'4 that seems to be the entry card into the NHL Draft these days.

Dakota Mermis (5'10 170lbs) will certainly be drafted and was once considered a potential first round draft pick.

Despite the NHL moving towards a faster, more skilled game, size is still the determining factor. Only three picks in the first round yesterday were under 6 feet tall.

Yeah, next year will be a very light year for DU players being drafted...we could see 0-2 players drafted

Its a little early to stick a fork in next season's recruiting class right now.

DU usually adds a Canadian recruit or two in the calender year.

Quinten Shore will be drafted and DU should be in the running for him.

Dakota Mermis will be drafted.

DU might land Seth Jones who will be a surefire first round pick.

And there's the possibility that some of these forward recruits will have a big season in the USHL.

There is no such thing aa a sure fire first round pick..every year a "sure thing" drops in the draft. While everyone is quick to applaud the incoming crop of players, if they don't stick around (Colborne,Bozak, Donovan to name a few) there will never be any chemistry or trust developed between players and that helps win championships.

Seth Jones isn't eligible until 2013
