50/50 Raffle Proceeds Purchase Hockey Software

(above) 50/50 Raffle proceeds were used to purchase software for the University of Denver hockey program
The University of Denver is the latest hockey program to purchase RinkNet Scouting Software to keep track of recruits and prospects. The software and licensing fees were purchased thanks to proceeds of the 50/50 Raffles that were held during the season at Magness Arena.

RinkNet has been producing scouting software for National Hockey League teams for the past eleven seasons. Currently 29 NHL teams use the software. As well, 97 junior and college clubs throughout the Canadian Hockey League, NCAA & USHL. In addition Hockey Canada, U.S.A. Hockey, plus several European Elite teams. A total of over 2,100 scouts use the system on a daily basis.

Earlier this year, the 50/50 Raffle Committee used proceeds to help partially fund the end of season Hockey Banquet.  Thanks go out to all the fans who purchased 50/50 tickets last season.

The Canadian software is pretty interesting and features video capabilities.

It allows coaches keep track of recruits and hundreds of prospects with updated stats and scouting reports.

The coaches didn't want to dip into the DU hockey budget for this type of a purchase so it was a perfect project for the Raffle proceeds.

Do we know the cost of the software?

It sounds like a service that you access through the software. Seems like a better arrangement than driving through middle of nowhere locales, in order to watch 10 games in 5 days or something in order to possibly find a player or two. A 21st century tool which should cut down on the costs associated with old fashioned scouting in the long run.

Oh, for sure. Just like the advent of cable and sattelite television, which made a huge impact on NHL scouting. With packages like "Center Ice", you can do from sitting in a chair with a TV what used to take weeks and weeks, many hours and lots of dollars

Money well spent when buying a raffle ticket. I get five every game from Spence in his usual spot. It has become part of going to the game.

The software & licensing fees cost $4,500 for the first season.

Here's a link to a flash screen that shows some of the things the software can do.
