2012 Presidential Debate Impacts DU Hockey

According to people at DU, the 2012 Presidential Debate will lock up Magness Arena for 10 to 11 days next year.  That means that two DU home hockey series previously scheduled at Magness Arena had to be moved.  Supposedly, DU will now play the games on the road.  No word yet on the teams involved.

It's early enough, perhaps the Pepsi Center for the games? Maybe they should think about this option....

Pepsi for a DU exhibition?? No way. Although, it's concievable to host a tourney there that weekend(reference the Ice Breaker Tournament they had the 1st week of the season in Michigan I think). The bigber question is, will they be selling the Pioneer Death Dogs for the debate - and will they lift the ban on cowbells for the debate, AND, will Mega Boone be in the building? I'd like to see Obama and Romney square off for "Saturday Night Sumo"......

My son who attends Hofstra, site of the 3rd and final debate, told me that they are canceling classes there for several days and that the campus will essentially be shut down. Don't know if that will be the case at DU. They are already offering tickets to the students at Hofstra.
