Flying Finn Shuts Out Princeton 3-0

(above) DU hockey fan Quint Geck shows who is the boss of the Denver Cup
College hockey's greatest third string goaltender, Juho Olkinuora, recorded his first collegiate shutout in just his fourth career start at the University of Denver. The Pioneers cruised to a relatively easy 3-0 victory.

Olkinoura recorded 38 saves including 16 in the first period.  Drew Shore, Nick Shore & Joey Lalggia scored for DU.

Olkinuroa now is the leading goaltender in the WCHA with a 1.67 GAA.

DU will play Miami on Saturday night for the Denver Cup.

In Grand Forks, North Dakota found its missing offense and stunned Colorado College 7-6.

I think College Hockey's Best Third String Goalie is now named "Murray" ... Finn is In.

One thing I notice, he doesn't try to do anything special with the puck after the shot. Smother it, hold it up, let his D do the work in the face-off ... smart, simple, hockey.

The CC game was in North Dakota, not the Springs.

DU played just well enough to beat hard-working but poor shooting Princeton squad.

If DU plays that way against Miami, they'll get smoked.

Congratulations to Juho on the shutout. He was sharp all night and looked calm and composed between the pipes. Princeton got a lot of rubber on net but Juho answered the bell.

I thought DU was mediocre overall tonight. The two goals in the 1st were nice plays, but Princeton had a strong period and was tenacious and gritty the whole night. DU did some standing around for parts of the game and got outworked for stretches. No question the Pios will have to be better tomorrow to beat Miami.

Great to see DU Freshman Goalie Juho Olkinura get his first shutout. He was really tested in that first period and finished strong. Remember... he's a third string goalie on paper but in the games he's played his year, he's looked very good. Tough game tomorrow against Miami of Ohio.

You can't spell Olkinura without a "0"
Great shutout. Lots of shots & pressure from Princeton. Was DU ever off side? I thought they played an ok game. Good to see Juho grab his moment!

What an effort by the boys last night. I can't wait to see them hoist that grand trophy tonight, it brings goose bumps to me, when they raise the cup, get the photos, and skate it around the the rink.

Why did L Salazar not play? I understand he was a healthy scratch, but Loney over Luke ??? Interesting

These are games where you can switch some players up. Hence Salazar and Loney. Noticed the lines were all over the place. They must play better tonite or Miami could win by 4 goals.

DU played to Princeton's level last night.

They will need to be much better tonight to match Miami.

Redhawks looked lackluster and sloppy in the 3rd period. If they continue to sleepwalk, DU should be able to take advantage.

Will Miami play the giant (5 hole) goalie again tonight?
