They didn't cruise D.G. Their goalie stoned us. The second half of the game belong to D.U. with some great skating and shots on net, but to no avail. An exciting game.
Now I'm really looking forward to the NCHC....these teams will play tough every time they meet. The game had a "North Dakota" feel to it for a while. Great hockey game to watch. It looked almost scripted, how the Captains were shoving each other on the first play.....as if to set the tone and expectation for both teams to play thier hearts out.
It was by no means a cruise last night. Miami and DU tested each other from the first faceoff. Reichard played very well and if he hadn't, the results could very well have been different. It was an exciting game to watch. Zucker drawing his 2nd penalty shot of the season showcases his exceptional play. Now JZ until you can make those shots, ala NHL shootouts, regularly you should come back to DU next year and refine your skills. :-}
For DU, it has to be a big disappointment not to win the Denver Cup. But give Miami credit--they were good all weekend and deserved it. DU tried to come back last night but just wasn't good enough to beat a very tough and determined Miami team.Miami played a very physical and aggressive style that worked very well. They forced turnovers, were good along the boards, and forced some bad passes. Their PK was excellent. I was disappointed in how DU played the first 20-30 minutes. There just wasn't enough pushback. When you get smacked in the mouth, sometimes the best remedy is to hit back. I thought the Pios were too willing to get pushed around and knocked around early on. I like how DU hit back later in the game, though. The Pios now have 5 straight games on the road before the holiday break. Tough stretch.
Nice no-show by your top players against a non-ranked "very tough" Miami team.
College Hockey is a goalies game. Top players don't mean anything when a goalie is hot."Nice no-show by your top players against a non-ranked "very tough" Miami team"
No-show by top players? Cruised? Hardly. This was the most physical game I have seen in Magness for years - a knock-down, crushing playoff-style game with two heavyweights slugging it out for every inch of ice and for every loose puck. Miami was the better team in the first 30 minutes, while DU owned the last 30. DU might have given their best effort of the year, but sometimes, your best isn't good enough to win the game. I was very proud of DU's effort level last night - they just didn't get the bounces, and that's hockey. Both teams could have won that game. I would have loved to see that game played with the students in the building - that would have raised the noise level and helped the Pioneers a little more.
No shame in DU losing that game whatsoever.DU played its guts out and left everything on the ice. I was prouder of DU after that loss than I am of them after many wins when they don't work as hard as they did last night. If DU can keep that kind of effort level every night, they will win 75% of their games.
Miami has won 8 in a row and is, bar none, the hottest team in the country right now. That fact thay they aren't ranked was due to an unexpected slow start. This Miami team was ranked #1 in the pre-season for a reason, and we saw why last night.
I wonder where the Miami Coach learned his craft??I sure hope there are no lingering injury issues with Zucker or Zakk. When Jason was helped off the ice, I thought for sure that was the dagger in the heart; but when #17 re-appeard later in the game, it was like Santa Claus had arrived. I kinda think there might be something else going on....but Man I hope not.
Anon 11:29,To whom exactly are you referring when you say "nice no show by your top players"? I'd love to hear your explanation. No question Miami was the better team for the first half of that game, thanks to a very aggressive and physical style that worked well, but DU fought back and played very well in the 2nd half. The Pios fell short, but the last 25-30 minutes of that game were very competitive.
Asshats never explain. They're just asshats.
That was easy......;)
Do you think George would ever consider giving the third line some pp time instead of the all rookie front line. Mark Rycroft made a good point that the second pp line of all rookies don't have any flow going since they don't play together. Third line is doing well 5 on 5 like to see what they can do on the pp.
I imagine the all-rookie power play second unit is about building some long-term experience for these guys, and perhaps keeping promises to drafted kids/NHL teams in return for signing at Denver.Right now, DU's power play has been somewhat ineffective. I am sure they will continue to make adjustments.
The power play has been bad for years.
What do you mean asshats never explain? That's a joke boy.
Phuck asshats who never explain
Okay. Enough Miami. Bring on CC.I don't think either DU or CC showed it's best effort last time, particularly in goal where both teams were flat-out horrible.I think this time, DU is going to need to be tighter on D on the big ice, in order to create chances going the other way. The key for DU is not letting the Schwarz brothers to get rolling.
Both teams are questionable in net. Expect a high scoring game.
I'll take Juho before Joe Sieve or Josh Gay-bert any dayPhuck cc
