The University of Nebraska-Omaha hockey team returned to the national rankings this week, coming in 19th in the latest USCHO.com poll.

The Mavericks began the season ranked 14th in both polls before falling out of the top 20 following back-to-back losses at the Alaska Goal Rush tournament in Fairbanks on Oct. 14 and 15.

UNO earned a tie and a win at Bemidji State last weekend. The two teams skated to a 3-3 draw on Friday before the Mavs responded with a 5-1 win on Saturday. It was UNO's first win against Bemidji State in eight games.

The Mavericks are now 6-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the WCHA, putting them in a tie with Minnesota Duluth for second.

UNO returns to action this weekend with games at No. 11 Denver on Friday and Saturday at Magness Arena. Friday's game begins at 7:30 PM MT and can be seen on Root Sports Rocky Mountain. DirecTV customers can watch the game on channel 683, and Dish Network subscribers can see the game on channel 414.

Friday night will be a classic "trap game"for DU.

Students & players begin Fall Quarter finals on Saturday, so very light to virtually no student section this weekend. The students will finish finals on Tuesday and return to campus Jan. 3rd

Figure that there might also be a post CC hangover as well.

On the positive front the game will be televised nationally on Root Sports.

As I always say, if DU is prepared and has thier head in the game and every student athlete shows up for 1 hour... they can beat these guys all day any day - and any other team for that matter.
Denver sweep.

I thought it was every fan's duty to show up and cheer. It was said that without them, the hockey team couldn’t win. Now you’re saying that the students have to study and will miss the game. I’m aghast! My prediction – without students, mascot and pep band – DU gets swept. Hey students – it’s all YOUR fault!
