Denver Post: DU Poised For 2nd Half Rebound

by Mike Chambers

At Christmas, the University of Denver looked like the definition of mediocrity. The Pioneers were 8-7-3 and had lost four of six games behind a third-string freshman goalie who was brought in on an emergency basis last summer.

Don't be surprised, however, if DU is playing in its fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament in March and produces its program-record 11th consecutive 20-win season by the end of February [read entire article].

Have to wonder what the future is for Adam Murray. I feel badly for him, but he just hasn't been able to gain much traction here. He seems to be the odd man out once again, given the stellar play of Juho.

Yes, especially since he was playing hurt and we were pretty tough on him.

Will Zucker be back for the games this weekend?

I think Murray has lost even the backup job for the Pioneers. Juho has been unbelievable, sure he's made mistakes but he's been a strong presence in net. Also with him you never worry about the worse happening like with Murray.

When Brittan gets back I can see him and Juho splitting games. Especially since he won't be back in top form. Murray will be the 3rd string goalie.

If I was George, I would keep Juho as the starting goalie and have Murray as the back-up. I would bench Sam for the rest of the year and get a red-shirt out of it.

Jay Z has games Tuesday and Wednesday with Team USA. I doubt he will play this weekend against UAH as Gwoz typically gives the WJC players some time off after the tourney.

Team USA plays Latvia today in relegation play and then concludes the tournament tomorrow against Switzerland. I believe our guys can finish no better than 7th.

I'm really looking forward to getting Sam back. But Juho has been stellar, and the job should be his to lose. We need Ryder back--his toughness equals the toughness of two men. He is much like Chuck Norris.

Ryder is a stud. He's the one guy on DU's squad who can knock an opponent into next week.
