Video: Kyle Rau Hit On Jason Zucker

From: WCHA

The men's Western Collegiate Hockey Association today announced a one-game suspension to University of Minnesota hockey player Kyle Rau for his actions in the February 10 game vs the University of Denver.

Rau's suspension was determined after a review of the incident under the WCHA's Supplementary Discipline Policy and Procedures. At the time of the incident, he was assessed a 5:00-major penalty for boarding and a 10:00-game misconduct.

Rau will be required to serve this one-game suspension in his team's next regularly scheduled game on Saturday, February 11 vs the University of Denver.

This makes me absolutely sick. Rau is a little punk and can eat a d*ck.

You know...if an injury occurs because of good, clean and hard-nosed hockey then that is just how it is...however this is bush league hack-style, head-hunting hockey.

There is no place for head-hunting. Never. Period.

It's Kyle Rau, not Chad, Chad is in the AHL and has played for the Wild.

chad, kyle...kyle, chad...a rau is a rau and they both can suck it -- chad for being a Pio killer a kyle for being a biotch. I have four words for kyle: "Vete a la mierda"

I'm telling ya... now is not the time for retaliation hits. For God's sake we don't need any suspensions with the Badgers and Sioux on the menu. If it was earlier in the season and we'd be playing UM again, I could see a payback. Tonight's payback is by sweeping the Goofers and getting back into the PWR hunt and that trip to Tampa......

Rau did end up getting a game for it. All the Goph fans are angry because it "wasn't from behind" or "to the head" and he "didn't leave his feet," so it should be "2 for charging at most." I think more than anything it was the intent of the play- he came in from the back side, way after the puck was gone, with clear intent to injure. Low play from a top line forward.

For starters, I'm not saying that a suspsension was not warranted...However..

Does this hit have any less potential for castrophic injury?

This is all about who has the Commish's ear...IE.."Crimson phone line on the same campus."

Glad to be leaving the patheic, 0-credibility WCHA head office behind.

Inconsistency is the WCHA's problem, not DU's.

Gopher fans are defending the hit because they all suck on Kyle Rau's dick. Try living in the kid's hometown. So annoying.

Replace Alfred with Commish Mcleod's secretary.

Replace the other two idiots with the DU coaching staff.

Enjoy;)

WCHA suspends Rau for tonight's game. Probably better all the way 'round since DU really needs at least a point. And worrying about getting even with that little punk might not be in our best interests.

Maybe to show all has been forgiven we could take Rau to The Border--and leave him there.

It is plainly, and sadly, obvious that segments of the goofer fan base are batchit crazy, on a und-like level.

Gopher Fans:

"Defending the Indefensible..."

FWIW, on USCHO, a vast majority of the Gopher fans are condeming the hit and calling out any of their other fans defending the hit(very small minority)for being idiots.

I'm actually impressed by them.

The only options in the NCAA rulebook for any hit to the head are 5+game or a disualification.

Primary point of contact was the head.

My random word that I have to key in to post was "fistting".

Chicken**** dirty hit. Rau has no balls for pulling that kind of crap. Hit a guy like a man, don't be a ****ing punk.

Rau should have to spend tonight listening to Analcunt's greatest hits on full volume as punishment.

Look, guys. If Zucker had hit Rau just like Rau hit Zucker, many of us would be defending Zucker because we see the game throuh Crimson-colored lenses.

Bottom line, those kinds of hits have no business in hockey, no matter who your are or what team you play for.

I would not defend a Sioux player if he would have committed that hit............

Rau better watch himself cuz his is coming

Rau takes dives, runs his mouth, and hits dirty...............O wait, hes a gopher.....

1-Zucker didn't, Rau did -- moot point
2- We have people to clean that potentially shit-ass mentality up.

I, personally, would not go for ANY DU FAN ACTING LIKE THAT, THAT THIS IS NOTHING.

People from Minnesota LIVE hockey and I utterly respect that, however they need to UTTERLY RESPECT THE RULES OF THE CONFERENCE IN WHICH THEY CURRENTLY PLAY...

Chris, YOU'RE REALLY EXCITED

I was raised on Golden Gopher hockey; I'm a lifetime fan. Rau's hit on Zucker is indefensible. It was late, behind the play and Rau obviously went for the head. It's kind of like the defenseless receiver rule in the NFL. A one game suspension isn't enough. If Rau played in my league and hit another kid like that, he'd be expelled for the season.
