United To Fly From Denver To Grand Forks

(above) United will begin DC-3 service between Denver & Grand Forks, ND to assist families leaving the state
From: Valley News Live

North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple announced today that United Airlines will begin offering humanitarian flights out of Grand Forks International Airport to Denver. This will enable more North Dakota residents to escape the harsh climate, get first-rate medical & dental care and reunite with family members who have already fled the state.

"This is good news for Grand Forks and the entire region," Dalrymple said. "North Dakota residents who are served by the Grand Forks airport will now have air passenger service to the Southwest United States."

United Airlines officials said a launch date, flight schedules and other details will be made available soon, but they are expected to offer $1 fares from Denver to Grand Forks get a few passengers on the planes heading north.

For three years running, the Grand Forks airport has set records for passenger boardings and United Airlines service will further complement the airport's new passenger terminal capabilities.

Among North Dakota's four largest airports, Grand Forks International is the only one that does not currently provide a daily, direct flight to Denver.

In a related move, the new Grand Forks to Denver flight will offer unlimited salad and breadsticks from the Grand Forks Olive Garden, no-fee checked lawnmowers as baggage (sponsored by the GF law firm of Frattin & Finley nd for those flying first class, a personalized safety demonstration from GF Police Chief Packett.

Alcolohic beverages are avilable in commemorative cups that celebrate the alcohol-related arrests of some of your favorite UND players. The cup set includes Matt Greene, Robbie Bina, Jonathan Toewes, TJ Oshie, Matt Frattin, Joe Finley and Danny Kristo.

As an additional incentive, ND players can use frequent flyer miles earned towards their bail.

Devils down in cup game 1. Awesome job, Parise.

Very funny stuff Guys!!

This is cute.....I just read this: flight attendants, rather than saying hello or good-bye to passengers, will instead flash the one finger salute, as a tribute to Coach Hak. Very touching!

I am stuck in the snow tire section of CostCo in Grand Forks ... I need one of these cheap flights now! :'(

An errand? YES! YES! YES! YES!

Tanjii came to America in Boston. It was not a happy time for me. Many days of sadness and too many beans. I told myself I could find no worse place in the great nation of America but then I found Grand Forks.

What is this "Denver" like? I hope to find my Mistah and Lady there once I can afford the flight on the great aluminum vulture. They will need their snow tires come winter. :(

Ah yes...Grand Forks, the suburb of Winnipeg of which Canada has no desire for and the USA denies as ours'...

Anonymous said...

Actually, the US should build a wall around Dakota. You know, to keep mullet-wearing, green-toothed scoundrels where they belong -- amongst each other. Leave the rest of us alone, you are too abusive and hostile for good Americans to handle on a day-to-day basis.

But we want their oil. It's delicious.

Anonymous said...

The oil companies pretty much use private planes to get in & out of ND. Minot is a hotspot for that. So I hope U A uses a dedicated plane for the Denver-Grand Forks route, because you know it will wreak of beer, BO, swamp ass and dirty socks.
Good luck on that flight to any uninformed DU fans who book it. Don't. Fly Delta and connect in MSP. You think the Sioux fans stink in the arena? Try being locked in a metal tube for 2 hours with those skanky inbreds.

We then must invade the Dakota Territory...seek-and-destroy...beat them at hockey, take their oil, purge any hotties (IF that mythical hottie from dakota actually exists) of their virginities and destroy their evil dictator Gen David Hakstool...Shock and Awe style

Harumph said...

Seems to me that any self-respecting NoDak hottie (I know, oxy-moron, bear with me) has moved to Denver anyway. No reason to go up there.

You should have pointed out that these flights are only at night!

Speaking of hotties... I heard Mario Lamoreaux's blonde sisters are so ugly.....that they joined an ugly contest up there at the truck stop one night... and they said, "Sorry, no professionals allowed"

Four reasons to use the Grand Forks airport...

-As a make-a-wish gift, fly a sick child from GF to Denver to show as bad as it gets, things do get better.
--Turning a quick dollar converting abandoned missile silos into luxury condos
--Working for the Smithsonian, you are confirming that the missing link between the cretacious period and the paleogene period is the UND hockey team.
--Humanitarian airlift of toothpaste for kids, blue jean shorts for men, and for the ladies - belt sanders and shop vacs for plastic surgery.

As a DU fan, I hated Matt Greene, to this day I call him the "Notorious Drunk Driving Defenseman" Yet, as a Kings fan, how can I root against him anymore?

Tanjii said...

I am so confused. Everywhere else in this wonderful land it is called the home of the brave but these people up here call it the home of Sue.

Is this Grand Forks a different country? What is this strange ugly goddess they worship? It is worse than the land I came from yes, but I still thought I was in America. :'(

Amazed at the hate...All season long you bring up that ND residents have nothing to do but watch hockey. Look at you losers. Seriously...Look at you. I watched the cup tonight and I saw Parise (C), Zajac, and Greene. Didn't see any of your alums out there! Oh yeah....Where did Travis Zajacs dad go to school?? Where did Darcy Zajac's dad go to school? Damn..What kind of DU alum(?) sends 50% of their kids to GF, ND?

Look forward to bitch slapping you next year. You have the flight now....get your asses up here and talk like that when DU pays a visit! But....thats right you don't travel to watch your team. We just come down there and dominate your arena. Thank you to all your season ticket holders that unload their tickets to Sioux fans at face value. Its always quite comical to see all that green in Magness. Even more comical to watch you guys cry about it.

You ND folks sure do take things way too seriously.
Parise is bringing his top game to the finals. Choke.

Trivia Question:

Q: Name at least three UND hockey players who lost to DU in the NCAA playoffs in the Pioneers march to National Championships in 2004 or 2004?

A: Zach Parise, Travis Zajac, and Matt Greene

Anonymous said...

North Dakota fans don't travel to Denver in numbers. They already live here. They got out.

Harumph said...

tl;dr NoDak anon. I am amazed that you even know that many words though... Gratz!

Anonymous said...

Whaddya say Tunj?

Anonymous said...

DG - I was thinking the exact same thing about Parise, Greene and Zajac.

I always find it somewhat amusing when UND come over here and crow about their NHL stars. Hey, they have every right to brag about the NHL.

However, all of the NHL success of their alums is almost a black-eye to the university. With all that talent, how come your greatest claim to fame over the last decade is choking year after year in the frozen four?

UND fans can talk all the crap they want about Parise and Toews being captains in the NHL. They can talk crap about about DU guys like Fulgham never making the NHL. Or Gauthier who barely got a sniff and bused around in the AHL.

That only speaks more highly of the DU program. Of the coaching staff and the heart and character of our players. UND has so much more talent, but DU competes on the ice year after year and has as much historical success, and more recent success than UND does.

Just remember UND fans. We are college hockey fans. Fulgham scored in Colorado Springs '04 to win the regional, Parise did not. Gauthier scored the game winning goal against Maine in the championship while Greene and Parise were sitting at home.

Anonymous said...

And to the guy who talked about Travis Zajac choosing UND over DU....how'd that decision work out for him?

I'd say excellent if you prefer to have zero national championships over having 1.

FWIW, Travis learned his lesson the hard way and past his knowledge along to Nolan. We welcome the Zajac's back to the Pioneer family with open arms.

Boonetown said...

I don't have anything against Parise, Greene and Zajac. It's the fans I can't stand.

For me it started when their fans disrespected the National Anthem.

Next time you're at a game, check out how the DU players are rock solid during the National Anthem. When a Canadian team is here, I will respect their anthem even though I'm not Canadian.

UND fans can't even respect their own country. I'd hate to see what they'd do with an anthem from another country.

That said, I think what the students at DU do at the end of the anthem isn't right either.

5BWest said...

I can't stand the ignorance. Don't you think you would change your team logo and nickname if you weren't even allowed to show it in the playoffs? Our friends to the North are voting (Measure 4) to ditch the nickname and logo for good later this month. I hope the voting booths come with pictures and crayons because these cretans couldn't provide a yes-no response if you spotted them a Y or N.

Besides, if our students get in trouble for dressing up like cowboys and indians, how can we let these slobbering knuckle-draggers show up in worse get-ups than our guys and get away with it?

Actually, they should keep the logo. Pretty soon, they'll only be able to play with themselves...not much of a change, I'd guess.

By the way, "United" is not flying this route; it's not large, 120-seat airplanes. It's 50 or 70 seat Regional Jets, served by their regional partners like ExpressJet and SkyWest. And to be clear - I don't hate Parise, or Blood or Hackstol. I hate all North Dakota hockey players and fans equally.

10.43- What's comical,is you saying you "dominate" Magness.Anyway this DU fan appreciates all the money you put in our cash registers.

DU has won all of one NCAA hockey since your last NC. Talk about a strong post season team. You really are a clueless fan base.
