Denver 6 - St. Cloud State 1 FINAL

One night after being shutout by St. Cloud State University, the University of Denver bounced back in emphatic style to defeat the Huskies 6-1.  Chris Knowlton led the way with a Hat Trick and was a team high +4 on the evening. Juho Olkinuora, making his first start of the season, recorded 20 saves.

5-1-0 record and 26 goals scored after six games. Heck of a start to the season.

Great win. I agree with the comments about this team being more cohesive unit than last year. Also it was nice to quiet a bunch of St. Cloud fans!

Good to see the boys wake up and respond. Hopefully Friday serves as a wakeup that every game is gameday. Great to see Olki step in and play solid.

For anyone who didn't watch the game on Pioneer Vision, they interviewed Chris Knowlton and asked what was the difference between Friday and Saturday. He straight up said that on Friday they were full of themselves and thought they were unbeatable because they were 4-0.

Great to hear them talking like that. This is starting to look like a team, not a cavalcade of talent .. they'll have to remember to play like a team every single minute of the season ... but I'm liking what I'm seeing. Later this month, CC and Yale, should tell us what we need to know.

Your road trip in early December will tell you what you need to know.

early december .. yeah, I guess Bemidji has a decent record and looks like a challenge. don't see much otherwise until BU.

Hey 3:38, I think Champ there, is referring to Denver's road games in America's Septic Tank, Grand Forks - home of the no-longer Fighting Sux.
But I like your reply - there's no real challenge other than Bemidji. Pretty bad when the team has to all get shots before getting on an airplane. I'd put this team against anybody. Can't wait for the USHHOF game with Boston U

Buy your tickets to Pitt...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!It's a real long season! You've played Mich Tech x2 (at home), Air Force (at home), Mass-Lowell (at home), St. Cloud x2(at home). Great start, don't get me wrong. Its a long season, and DU will fall back to earth and settle into the 4th or 5th spot in the WCHA. Still think a healthy St. Cloud is better than DU. You won't won't finish higher than UM, UND, St. Cloud or Duluth.

Your schedule is absolutely brutal the rest of the way. You better look forward to the Bemidji series. But then again DU always shits the bed against the bad teams.

DU fans are the worst in the WCHA. One....there are three of you. Two....You are more arrogant than Gopher fans. Thank god you and the Sux are leaving the WCHA. You deserve each other. I used to hate the Sux, but now you fags are the top of the list. I hope the Sux pound you homos!!! I traveled out for the series this past weekend and was shocked at your attendance. Shocked! How big is your city??? Not even a full student section. Amazing.

Well we only have three fans, so that's why the attendance was poor duh!

Don't be shocked. This is not Grand Forks, Madison, Houghton, Mankato or St. Cloud. We have a LOT of things to do in Denver besides hockey. Some of our students actually study on weekends. Some of them go to cultural events, pro sporting events or to serious nightlife offered by Denver. Others ski every weekend. Some go to other events on campus. And majority of our students come from out of state and did not grow up cheering here. Add in the fact that 70% of the junior class studies abroad each year, so there are only about 2,500 undergrads on campus on weekends during hockey season, We are lucky to get 500 of them to a DU hockey game.

No college in Colorado sells out in any sport, nor do college fans here make much noise for any school. Come to think of it, our pro sports crowds are mellow too. This is a mellow state with a lot of things to do besides going to college sports. We have many other outlets for our energy..

Much of the Denver's city population are originally not from here either. They aren't local fanatics with generations of shared family sports memories. Half of the city has arrived here in the last 15 years, and they come here with their own college loyalties, mostly from California or Texas. Add to that the fact that DU is an expensive private school that many locals resent because most people in Colorado cannot afford to send their kids here. Add to that the second smallest undergraduate population in the WCHA (only about 5,000 undergrads), most of whom who came here from out of state and not from hockey-playing areas. They come here mostly to study and ski - hockey games are a distant third priority.

What you see in Colorado cannot be compared to North Dakota, Minnesota or Michigan. There is little hockey culture here. Most people in Colorado have never been on skates before.

We are lucky to get what we get as our game stories are on page 15 of the sports section here.

North Dakota fans....try real hard to grasp this highly complex math logic....0+7=7. Until you have 8 championships....you may want to...umm....SHUT UP. One more thing...CC Sucks!

Actually, it's the fat man with the enormous ego sucking the life out of the arena every weekend. He's creating a severe lack of oxgen that is compounding an already short supply at a mile above sea level.
So, until he either grows up and stops trying to relive the glory years .....unlikely, or, gets a real life like every other 50 something college grad, Magness will continue to be a wasteland in one of the greatest cities in the US.

We’ve been spoiled with so much talent in recent years. You would think a few of the kids from this team would have been drafted.

7 current DU players have been drafted.

Sam Brittain [FLA], Joey LaLeggia [EDM], Scott Mayfield [NYI], Paul Phillips [CHI], Zac Larazza [PHX], Josiah Didier [MTL] & Nick Shore [LAK] have been drafted.

Makowski, Doremus, Looney & Zajac may well receive free agent interest, but were late bloomers.

Next year's incoming recruiting class is going to have several players drafted including Will Butcher, Gage Ausmus & Trevor Moore will go in the Top 5 Rounds.

Depending on when they are selected, there's a very good chance that they will set a DU record for earliest three players to be drafted.

Is 11:02’s statement about lacking a cavalcade of talent, just another example of reverse trolling then?

REVERSE TROLLING!!
