NCAA Tournament: DU Women's Soccer 3 - CC 1

(above) DU defeated CC 3-1 in the 1st Round of the NCAA Tournament
The University of Denver scored an early goal in the first half and added two more in the second on Saturday afternoon at the DU Soccer Stadium. The victory was the Pioneers’ second NCAA tournament win in program history.

Senior forward Kaitlin Bast became the third Pioneer in school history to join the 100-point club, pacing the Pioneers (16-2-4) with two goals and an assist (five points) on Saturday. Junior forward Kristen Hamilton scored her team-leading 14th goal in the match as well.

Head coach Jeff Hooker noted, “We switched things up a bit formation wise when we came out in the second half, a little bit because of the weather. We didn’t want to be too crazy and too aggressive. I thought our energy was really, really good.”

Denver is now 30-1-2 at home since 2009.

Denver moves on to Friday's NCAA second round match at Palo Alto, California [Stanford], to face the University of Maryland, which defeated Stony Brook 2-0 on Saturday.

Great win for the Pioneers.

The Lax team already defeated Maryland this Fall. Keep the streak going.

Congrats to the soccer team. Good win in front of a good crowd on a cold day. I'm guessing attendance was between
1500 and 2000, and a good turnout by CC fans, too. Good luck to DU vs. Maryland in the next round.

GO TERPS! Fear the TURTLE!

The Maryland team is far superior a team than Denver's, it should be a nice WALKOVER for the Lady Terps.

The good thing about yesterdays game is I got to listen to the usual whining CC fans - where they screamed at the ref if a DU player touched a CC player - and if the CC player shoved a DU player - it was screams of "let them play" - at least I'll be more immune to their delusional comments this weekend.
