NCAA Tournament: Women's Soccer vs Stanford

The University of Denver women's soccer team will play in the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time on Sunday, as the Pioneers take on #1 Stanford at 2 PM MT in Palo Alto, CA.

Its been a hectic weekend for DU head coach Jeff Hooker and assistant coach Katie Hooker, who gave birth to their first child, Aubrey Kathleen Hooker, on Saturday afternoon at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colo.

Jeff Hooker caught a morning flight back to Denver after the Pioneers' 3-1 win over Maryland Friday night in the NCAA Tournament Second Round in Stanford, Calif.

No shame in losing to the #1 team in the country on their home field. Hopefully this kind of result further strengthens DU's recruiting cache both within and beyond Colorado.

Nobody expected DU to be in the Sweet 16 out of 360 teams.

Fantastic accomplishment!

Congrats to the team and coaches on a great season. Getting some NCAA Tourney victories is a major breakthrough.

DU graduates five seniors, including two of the top four goalscorers and the starting goalkeeper.

The good news is a huge Senior class next season.
