Like a lot of people probably, I thought the initial word that the University of Denver fired hockey coach George Gwozdecky Monday was an April Fool's joke.
I got the word while driving a back road in New Hampshire during a
brief holiday, on a tweet that I thought was a prank. Ha ha, DU fired
the guy who has guided the team to an NCAA current record 12 consecutive
20-win seasons, with two national championships in the past nine years.
Good one!
When the tweets kept coming, though, followed by The Denver Post
story and then the official release from the DU athletic office, it was
tough to keep the eyes on the road for a few seconds [read entire article].
