Well deserved extension and no doubt its going to be great for recruiting knowing that Tierney is locked up until 2017.

Great to see that they found the money to do this.

You have to wonder why they couldn't do this for Gwozdecky as well. DU is paying Gwozdecky to not coach this season and one has to think that DU is going to take a revenue hit in lost ticket sales.

Tierney is probably more important than Gwozdecky was from a prestige point of view, but Gwozdecky brought in far more revenue.

Great news about Tierney.

But I don't see much point in comparing this to Gwozdekcy. Gwozdecky was here for nearly 20 years, Tierney for 4 years. Apples & oranges, and MUCH different circumstances. As to revenue: if Montgomery is as successful as Gwozdecky was (I know, that's a big "if"), then there won't be much loss of revenue. It's a successful hockey program, not a particular coach, that draws revenue. And if DU is paying Montgomery substantially less than what Gwoz was demanding, you have to put that difference in salary in DU's "plus" column in the revenue analysis.

Peg has taken a beating this year on Gwozdecky but kudos to her for getting this done. Montgomery, Scott, and Tierney give us a good chance to compete with anyone.

Congratulations!

Tim that was the dumbest comment you have ever made, and you make them daily. Im sure Scott will have hoops competing with Louisville in no time. Dream on Timothy.

Anon- Do you know the difference between 'compete' and 'beat'? When you win 20 games a year you are competitive. When you beat Utah State, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State, Northern Iowa, and St Mary's you are competitive. When you can compete with Cal, Maryland, and Colorado State you are competitive.

DU will never be able to recruit high school all-Americans but they are getting better athletes and basketball players every year. They play a system that gives them a chance to win against bigger programs. They are getting better every year. What else could you expect from a mid-major? We are very fortunate to have Coach Scott. Watch a few games...

Within 2 years DU could win the conference basketball championship with Louisville, Ohio St., Michigan St., Indiana, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA, Connecticut and North Carolina.

Peg is so good she actually has the conference reallignment in the works. Expect an annoucement shortly.

But, seriously 8:40 and 8:36, I don't think that's what Tim was suggesting.

7:32 What do you mean Peg has the conference realignment in the works? We just joined the Summit. I know it's not attractive at all. Tell us if you mean there is another League we might move to soon or will we start a League.
