Colorado's two newest hockey coaches were briefly teammates, but friends ever since.

Montgomery made his debut with his hometown Montreal Canadiens in 1995,
after being addressed in front of the team by star goaltender Patrick
Roy, who by then had led the Canadiens to two Stanley Cups
" 'Go
show everyone what's inside your heart tonight,' he told me, right in
front of everyone," Montgomery said. "For the superstar of the Montreal
Canadiens to say that to me, it was very motivating and something I will
never forget."
Montgomery, 43, was hired by the University of Denver last month and Roy, 47, by the Avalanche last week [read entire article].

Come on Monty, smile! You are coaching one of the elite programs in college hockey.
Jimmy just saw the new mascot logo for his locker-room and is NOT happy.
Maybe Monty had just heard about Tierney's raise before the photo. :-)
I understand Monty is hosting a fan webcast/teleconference next week. I expect a full report here. I wold particularly like to ask him where DU stands in goaltending. I don't care how good Sam Brittain is; he can't play the whole season. He needs a backup; whether it's a Josh Rosenholtz/Danny King type of bench-rider; or someone who is a true contender for the #1 slot. Are we recruiting for goalies? I wold also ask if the Dubuque goalies are all college-committed.
The last time I checked Dubuque's #1 goalie Arty Brey had not committed
There is also goalie Evan Cowley from the NAHL. His hometown is listed as Evergreen, he is uncommitted and his central scouting ranking is #12 for goalies (third for non-MJ goalies).
For what it's worth, The official DU hockey website updated the player roster. No freshman listed yet, and somewhat surprising to see that Jarrod Mermis is still listed.
6:32, if you "expect" a full report here, I suggest you pay attention and write it yourself. Do you pay this website? Then you shouldn't "expect" anything, jerk.
1st Boone get's mothballed and now rumblings about paying for this blog. Is DG's Crimson and Gold spirit waning? Maybe widget sales are down and DG needs the cash.
DG's spirit is just fine.
He's mothballing Boone because there will be a new mascot next year and he does not want to be blamed for using Boone to undermine it. The University has also moved from being tolerant (and sometimes quite supportive) of Boone to a far more anti-Boone stance over the past year - removing him from murals, confining him to the student section and trying to remove him from TV. It was a fun 4 years. The new mascot will likely have a hard time succeeding, and if they want Boone, they know where to find him.
To make matters worse, The guy who murdered all those movie goers in Aurora has a beard like Boone. Btw there's another nice write up on Montgomery in today's Denver Post.
Making a jokes about an incident in which a DU student was killed probably isn't the classiest thing to post.
