Great job DG.

Not me.

Boone and the film crew put this together. I just paid for lunch.

Denver Boone said...

And what a lunch it was!! :)

Boone went all over Philadelphia today. He posed for hundreds and hundreds of photos with tourists, lacrosse fans, children and locals.

Some knew him as Denver Boone [mostly lacrosse fans], some thought he was a "Pioneer", some thought he was Davy Crockett.

Not one person mentioned anything about race, divisiveness or multiculturalism. Its clearly a DU "problem."

Oh yeah, a Food Channel TV crewshot B roll footage of Boone in Philly for an upcoming episode.

The Mascot Task Force tab has now climbed over $40,000. Must suck to be a DU faculty member, seeing DU waste all this money while none of them received a raise this year.

It won't cost anything, remember? It is 'self funded' with student fees and general univerity funds that will be paid back in mascot roayalty revenue (Berkeley math).

As much as it pains me, CC has a better chance at winning a national championship in hockey than that $40,000 finding its way back home.

If this is Boone's farewell moment , it is a fitting one. He has been the underdog from the moment you built him in 2009. He performed with exceptional style and goes out dancing with hands raised in victory

And just like Rocky, I would bet on a comeback or sequel someday....

In the words of Rocky Balboa (Rocky III) .. "A man ain't nuffin' if he don't beleebe in hisself." ... You gotta beleebe, Boone, you gotta beleebe.

the big difference is. Rocky won fights boone loses.

Rocky lost in the original movie

Best DU video ever. DG should be on the board of trustees. Nobody cares more about DU in every way then the wonderful Mr. Goddard.

dggoddard said...

I don't have a million dollars, so that rules out that idea.

Plus they don't want anyone on the Board who isn't fully behind the "Inclusive Excellence Dog & Pony Show."

Correction, nobody cares more about DG than DG.

He'll support DU athletics as long as it includes adulation pouring over him through the support for Boone.

It amazes me that nobody can see through the obvious narcissism.

Interesting hypothesis.

Of course I'd have trick Chancellor Coombe into forming a Mascot Task Force and spending $100,000 to really make the Boone controversy blow up.

I am calling BS on that, 9:50.

Anybody that knows DG as I do knows that he has many options to spend his time and treasure. That he chooses to spend much of his spare time and money supporting school spirit for his alma mater is a great thing for all of us who love DU.

We should all be as generous as he is, and he has never asked anyone at DU for anything - it's all give and no take. The Boone Program alone has saved DU between $50-100,000 since 2009, a good chunk of that out of his own pocket.

I am sorry, but NO ONE has done more for school spirit than he has through this blog, Boone, donations, trip support, advice and counsel. He may have ruffled a few feathers along the way, but it was because those feathers needed to be ruffled.

Any 40-50 yr. old man hanging around college students on his time off has serious issues.

"I'll buy lunch and drinks if somebody makes me feel awesome about myself....."

"That's enough Boone talk, how about we talk about me now?"

Creeper!

dggoddard said...

You spend more time talking about me than I talk about me.

Welcome to the Entourage.

DG paid the $100,000 for the kid to wear the Boone costume?

Anonymous said...

Just what every 50 yr. old man wants....An entourage of 20 yr. olds that will be your "friend" as long as you pay for the airline tickets and the booze.

Anonymous said...

An entourage of 21 yr. old college co-eds sounds pretty good to me. And all you have to do is put a kid a mascot outfit? What a deal. Now if you paid $100,000, that would be a rip off. You could get a whole mess of hookers for that price.

DG never paid the students a dime to wear the mascot suit.

He did make it possible to fund the mascot travel that the University won't subsidize so that DU would have an enhanced student experience,

ESPN called Duke, Syracuse, Cornell and Denver and asked them to bring their mascots this weekend. All four schools declined.

Boone shows up and steals the show.

11:18 - Damien has plenty of friends his own age who he hangs out with. None of them, however, are going to get inside a hot mascot suit for five hours on a game day. For that you need a student or two...

For many of the students who have travelled as part of the mascot program have got to see parts of the country they otherwise wouldn't get to see, and had a great experience cheering the Pioneers at Championship events. For several of these students, it was a tremendous reward for all the hard, unpaid work being a mascot all year.

Nothing creepy about it - that part is all in your head...

ESPN thanked Boone for coming to Philadelphia and helping enhance the TV coverage when other schools declined due to school being over for them.

Every brick, doorknob and stump at DU has a donors name on it. DG is creating an experience and asking for nothing else in return.

Sounds pretty noble (and fun) to me!

The mascot does have a few personal duties he has to perform for DG. Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink. Say no more.

Give it rest, 12:23.

No such thing.
