Swami predicts a split again
10 straight seasons of 20-plus wins. Pretty amazing in this day and age of low scoring games and balance in the WCHA.
If DU would have swept UM and CC "like they should have" - right now I would totally disagree with you, Swami. But, in light of current situations... you could be right - or even worse, the Huskies could leave Colorado with thier egos very inflated and 2 W's......
Denver has to pull it together for this series and blow these guys away
I'm not trying to go Swami on you (I predict a sweep), but I don't think they'll be blowouts. This team typically doesn't blow teams out, they just win. Without out our KO punch and Makowski on Friday, I think we'll see a close game.
Can't afford a split if we want a 1 or 2 seed at the Final Five. Seeds 3-6 play a "play-in" game before 1 and 2 take the ice.
Donovan really needs to step it up this weekend. Against this caliber of competition he should really dominate.
The first thing Donovan needs to do is stay out of the penalty box. Probably half of the minutes he has spent there are due to getting beat and have to take a penalty in order to prevent a score.
Who will be the sixth man on defense Friday night?
No matter who the 6th D-man is, Gwozdecky will almost certainly roll five guys unless DU gets a comfortable lead.
My guess is that Bennett may be the guy jumping up in the line chart that Chambers mentioned.
Zucker-Shore-Bennett would be pretty formidable.
North Dakota clinched home ice last Saturday
I have sources that tell me that Gwoz explained to some interested listeners yesterday that the team will be ready this weekend - he actually guaranteed it. My hope is that "being ready" means that they might actually show up in the first period with their eyes opened, rather than asleep on their feet. Ya know, 'The lights are on but nobody's home?' It would be nice to have a LEAD going into the 2nd intermission in both of the games this weekend. I think that this weekend will be a necessary ego boost for the Pios. They might even get comfortable with a lead and start using this strategy for the rest of the season.
WIN THE FIRST PERIOD, BOYS!
If beating Michigan Tech boosts their egos, the Pioneers have big big problems.
DU needs 4 points this weekend. Anything less is not acceptable.
Considering Michigan Tech is on a 25 game winless streak (0-23-2), DU should be good for 4 points.
9:10:I never predicted a split in this series. Please don't put words in my mouth.
The Pioneers should sweep and will sweep. If they don't, I could see a serious bag skate on Monday.
For DU, it's important to play well, and last weekend, they didn't play that well and still managed a split in Minnnesota.
DU needs to get their energy back, and this is the weekend to do it.
No kidding, man. If the unthinkable happened and DU played like crap and got beat....To have a chance to watch thier horrific Monday skate, I'd pay double of what I'm paying to see these Tech games tonight and tomorrow night! Let's go kids.... make Kaptain Kyls proud!
Do you honestly think this team is ready for the post-season? Denver's team is too small. I also think thier best players may have already "peaked". Not to be a pesemist; because I love this team - but i'm just not feeling it with these guys. I sense grave danger going into the national tourney
Ugly!
