Iona game is Wednesday night
Thanks for the heads up. Corrected.
Hope that doesn't jinx us!!!
All right, I'm FINALLY gonna go to a hoops game this Wednesday. See...if you win, people like me will actually watch some bouncy ball. Good luck vs. Iona, should be a fun game.
Biggest home game in 40 years. On that night in Feb or March of 1971, we beat 18th ranked Utah State by 19 points. That gave us a 15 game winning streak after starting season 2-8. Unfortunately, we lost our next and final game at Loyola of Chicago by 1 point. Cost us an NIT bid.
DU has been to two NITs. In 1950 with Vince Boryla (who would later become and NBA coach and exec), we lost to NYU.
And in 2005, DU went to the NIT after winning the Sun Belt West Division. We lost to the U of San Francisco by a basket at their place, 69-67.
We've never been to the NCAAs, but when you look back over the seasons to the 1950s, DU has beaten some big names - UCLA, Michigan, Notre Dame, South Carolina, USC, etc.
