Denver 7 - Nebraska Omaha 4 FINAL

The University of Denver may have been outhit, outplayed, outshot & outmanned on Friday night against the University of Nebraska-Omaha, but timely goals stole the show.  DU rang up goals seemingly at will and usually against the flow of play.

DU used the offensive good fortune to roll to a 7-4 victory.  Zac Larraza &  Matt Tabrum scored twice to pace Denver.

The Pioneers are tied for first place in the WCHA with UNO, but eight teams are within two wins of first place.

That was fun. Lets hope DU has one more game like that left in them this weekend.

Wow that almost felt criminal to take a win out of that! Wild game and glad DU made the most out of their chances.

Some very ugly power plays by DU and hope the right the ship for tomorrow and beyond.

Fun game to be at! Wild swings, very wide open and highlight reel goals for the Pios!

Watching the defense at points in this game, especially the third period, was hard. They let guys park right in front of Olkinuora and there were a number of blue line turnovers. If we want the sweep, they'll definitely have to step up the defense. Nice to see Larraza step it up though.

DU had a big jump in Pairwise tonight because CC jumped back onto the TUC list with a win over UND. If CC loses tomorrow and DU wins, the Pioneers will like fall in the Pairwise. Such is life when teams hover around the TUC Cliff."

I thought we'd had it after UNO tied it at 4 (and they doubtless were smelling the win, too). But Zac spoiled their party. Fun game. But too many odd man rushes, turnovers and missed opportunities. Once again, Jussi proved to be the difference. Let's hope DU can match up with them a little better tomorrow.

Add Quentin Shore's name to the list of DU players & recruits who may be drafted this summer.

Wild game last night. There were several momentum swings, and after a terrible start to the third period, DU starting working hard again and put the game away. Nice to see Larraza's name on the score sheet.

UNO is a good team. They spent an awful lot of time in DU's zone, cycled the puck well, had an effective forecheck most of the night, and got a lot of rubber on Juho. DU's d-men need to play a more physical game tonight, although I really liked Didier's presence. He just needs to stay out of the box.

I predict Sam B. Will be incredible tonight, giving DU the sweep. He's got to be itching to get back out there and subconsciously probably wants to prove to himself that he can still mash the potatoes.

Looks like Jussi is starting again tonight:

Gotta feel for Sam and Adam, but I like being able to ride a goalie into the 2nd half of the season. And 38 saves isn't a bad argument to keep the job.

Student Section and Pep Band got a shout out from the NBC Sports Network announcers during the telecast.

They mentioned that the students & band brought atmosphere to the arena and were missed the last time the TV crew were at DU during Winter Break.
