Mystery, Alaska - DU's new line of Ryan Dingle, Ryan Helgason and Mike Handza have scored a pair of goals in each of their two games together. Thanks to their efforts DU is finally scoring even strength goals and winning hard fought games at a critical point of the season.
DU had to know that Alaska-Anchorage's record when taking less than 25 shots in a game was 1-13-1. Credit the Pioneers to holding UAA to just 15 shots in the entire game and escaping with a 3-2 victory. Late in the game with DU clinging to a one goal lead, UAA had a 5 on 3 power play for 1:45 and only got one shot off. The Ryan's, Helgason and Dingle, contributed a goal and assist each and Matt Carle notched two assists back in his hometown.
The story of the game was UAA third string goaltender Mike Rosett who was called into duty when Nathan Lawson went down with a knee injury (photo above) at the eight minute mark of the First Period. He played a great game and held the Pioneers to three goals.
DU was able to use the same line combinations for the second game in a row for the first time in what seems like forever. Perhaps the continuity led to the great team defense.
With Minnesota's victory over Wisconsin the Pioneers are just two points out of first place in the WCHA.

I love the Dingle, Handza, Helgason line, they scored again on Saturday. Handza and Helgason already worked well together, and I guess Dingle just did the trick.
Funny how moving Dingle with Handza & Helgason has seemed to spark every other line on the team. I've never seen anything like it...
