San Jose Sharks defenseman Matt Carle will rejoin the team in Phoenix on Friday and is expected to make his return to the lineup on Saturday against the Coyotes.
Carle was assigned to the Worcester Sharks, the team’s top development affiliate in the American Hockey League, on Jan. 2. In three games with Worcester, Carle recorded two points (0-2=2) and posted a plus-1 player rating. Despite being out of the lineup for the past five games, Carle continues to lead all Sharks defensemen with 21 points (3-18=21).
This interesting comment on why the Sharks might have assigned Carle to Worcester was sent to LetsGoDU.
"They announced during tonight's Shark game that he's been recalled. Hmmm. He hasn't played in Worcester since Sunday while the Sharks played two games mid-week. Smells like sending him down and keeping him down there all week was partially to save some Salary Cap $$. Tacky."

Another possible explanation for the timing of his recall is that tomorrow the NHL announces the players for the “Young Stars” game during All Star week. It could be the Sharks recalled Carle a little earlier than originally planned because the NHL front office called and told them they were going to pick Carle for that game, but only if he was on the NHL roster by today. If that’s the case, then it was a nice gesture by the Sharks to bring him back now.
I can't put much stock in the salary issue. The guy makes less than a million a year, and even in hockey, that isn't a whole lot for a guy that is already one of the stars of his team.

Well no matter the reason its bad Karma for Carle to be in the minors. Great to see him back with the big club.
What...no bad boyz team write up on our coaches little fight with the cops at Mariucci last Sunday? I thought for sure you would have some witty write up....
Typical Mankato Nancy Boy(z)Purse Fight. Nothing to see here...move along. :-)
Weak...just weak.
