WCH Blog Reports Confirmation Of Gregoire Rumors
Western College Hockey Blog is reporting that they have confirmation from source in Manitoba that Jason Gregoire has switched his commitment to the University of North Dakota and will enroll in 2008.

Its a sad day for DU recruiting and it must be devastating news to the DU Hockey Staff who worked so hard to put together another incredible recruiting class.

These things happen and obviously its a difficult situation for all involved. Best wishes to Jason Gregoire in his future endeavours.

That's a bummer. Gregoire sounds like the real deal. Just deepens my already considerable dislike for ND.......

We just need to bounce back and start offering scholies to the CC recruits.

DU is on a bad streak right now, after losing late on Riley Nash, and now the de-commit of Gregoire.

Bad times for the Pio staff.

Geez, I feel sorry for you guys. Jason is a great kid, and is a terrific hockey player. Lincoln Stars head coach Steve Johnson is a UND alumni, and actually won a Hobey Baker there. He's always getting kids from ND, and sending kids to UND. I guess this shouldn't be surprising. I'm not a DU or UND fan...just a Lincoln Stars fan. Still, I was hoping he'd stick with DU. Oh well.

Johnson didn't win the Hobey. He finished 2nd to Robb Stauber in 1988.

Sometime the recruits that were afterthoughts end up being the prime time players. You never can tell. I'm sure the coaching staff will find another suitable replacement.

Johnson has lost alot of his ties with recruiting ND kids to play in Lincoln due to his lack of coaching talent and personality. Johnson has applied several times for coaching jobs at UND and never gets the job!

Wonder if Jason will come back to the Stars this fall or move on to college now that Stars Coach Steve Johnson has resigned?

Johnson resignation caught me by surprise.

Coaching with all the travel can be a tough grind on families. In the NCAA D-1 less than three jobs seem to open up each year. If its a prime gig, the lead assistant will probably get the nod 90% of the time.

In other words upward mobility from the USHL to an NCAA gig is virtually nil unless you want to be a lead recruiter.

Who knows how this will impact Gregiore.
