Turnovers, missed opportunities and Saturday’s 4-2 loss to St. Cloud State will give Colorado College plenty to gnaw on as it heads into holiday break. The loss also moved DU into a first place tie with the Tigers in the WCHA standings.
“You hate to lose, especially going into a break because that’s all you can think about,” goaltender Richard Bachman said. “But it will help us down the road, knowing we can’t come out slow in the first period on the road. . . . It will help everyone make sure we’re eating right over the break, too. Right now, it’s tough to swallow.”
SCSU's Nate Dey scored two goals, including the shot that put the Huskies ahead for good, as St. Cloud State defeated Colorado College 4-2 on Saturday night to end a six-game losing skid and claim a split of the weekend series.
Dey's goal at 17:55 of the opening period put St. Cloud (8-8-2, 4-7-1 WCHA) ahead 3-1.
Addison DeBoer's shot at 11:48 had pulled No. 3 Colorado College into a 1-1 tie, and the Tigers (11-5-0, 11-3-0) pulled within one at 3-2 as Chad Rau scored on the power play at 6:33 of the middle period.
Dey's insurance goal about six minutes later padded St. Cloud's lead.
