ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The University of Denver burned off a late Alaska Anchorage power play, including a 6-on-4 advantage over the last 48 seconds, to secure a 4-3 win tonight in WCHA action at Sullivan Arena. Brock Trotter netted the game-winning goal and Peter Mannino stopped 33 shots as the Pioneers improve to 13-4 and 10-3 in the WCHA. Alaska Anchorage falls to 5-6-4, 2-6-3. DU remains two points behind Colorado College in the WCHA with its third consecutive road win.
J.P. Testwuide added his first career goal, while Tom May and Jesse Martin added goals for the Pioneers, who extended their winning streak to three games. Tyler Bozak added a career-high three assists.
DU held a 2-1 lead after a fast-paced opening period. Testwuide’s goal was redirected off a UAA defenseman four minutes into the game. The Seawolves tied the game at 17:12 when Brad McCabe pushed a rebound into an open net, but DU took the lead when May wristed a quick blast past Jon Althuis (12 saves) at 19:00 from the slot on a mini breakaway after a great feed from Patrick Mullen.
The Pioneers led 4-3 after two periods. Martin gave DU a 3-1 lead at 1:20 of the second with a power-play rebound goal off a shot by Bozak. UAA made it 3-2 when Josh Lunden snuck a goal past Mannino at 5:25. Trotter made it 4-2 when he buried the eventual game-winning goal on a pretty feed from Bozak at 7:29. UAA responded with a power-play goal by Craig Parkinson at 9:29.
Mannino shook off a tough start and starred in the third period with nine saves. DU was outshot 36-16 in the game. The Pioneers went 1-for-4 on the power play, while UAA was 1-for-6.

Testweeds was incorrectly credited with the goal (and I believe it was changed later) as his shot was subtly deflected by the Dusty Roads kid.
And oh yeah ... apparently DU Athletics isn't up to stuff in the spelling dept either since UAA doesn't have anyone named Althuis on their team.
Poor performance by the Pios last nioght. Hope for a better one tonight.
Testuwuide was eventually credited with the goal by the official scorer at the end of the game.
Definitely a subpar outing for DU last night. Based on the radio broadcast and the box score alone, UAA carried the play in that game. DU was the more opprtunistic team, but only 16 shots on goal?.....that needs to change. Can't complain too much about a league win on the road, but hopefully the Pios skate a little better tonight.
A win is a win. I dont think anyone has ever given one back. Quit complaining.
