GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota men’s hockey head coach Dave Hakstol said today he is apologizing for his actions in a discussion with referee Don Adam during Saturday’s game at the University of Minnesota.
“I would like to sincerely apologize to our fans, players and entire program, as well as all college hockey fans, the WCHA and Don Adam, for my actions during the second period of last night’s game versus the University of Minnesota,” Hakstol said. “I’m disappointed in myself for allowing my emotions and frustrations to get the better of me. I pride myself in not allowing this type of thing to occur.
“Most importantly, I am a parent before I am a coach, and I understand the responsibility that we carry as coaches within the WCHA to young hockey fans and families everywhere.
“I have evaluated and feel terrible about my actions and can assure everyone that such a thing will never happen again.”
Media members who would like to speak individually with Hakstol may call him in his office on Monday.

Naw. No way was Hackstool flipping off Adam. He was sending regards to the bail bondsman he is supporting in GF, Madtown for Finley's cruelty to animals incident and in northern minnesota where some of his felons were ripping off pull tabs from the vfw or some such similar org.
can we say photo shop, te finger doesn't line up...
I'm just waiting for the day where one of them is arrested for hitting on a cop dressed as a prostitute.
Your confusing the Sioux players with the ones from Madison Wisconsin.
Its a photograph of a television screen. Its not photoshopped.
Being a und grad the whole loud party thing is a joke in gf. The cops there only have to hear something 50 feet away for them to write you a citation for a loud party
The team that recruited and played a known sexual predator trying to take the moral high ground against a few loud party citations and someone flipping the bird.
I think thats the definition of Irony.
We can only wish Prpich would have castrasted that sick waste of a human being.
DG, the reason I ask the picture is in focus except the finger.
10:33...you must be dumber than a bag of hammers. Did you mention the name Prpich?? That guy is worthless as a sack of monkey turds. No one outside Grand Forks has any respect for that guy. I only wish Paukovich had taken a clean run at your boy and made him a grease spot. Get your head out of your ass, tool.
Hmmm -- not much on the DU fan blog about DU hockey from this past weekend. I wonder why? Oh, my God! College students -- even athletes -- partying? What is the world coming to. Who hasn't wanted to flip off Donnie Adam -- or actually done so? Oh, that's right, he's the Pioneers patsy. I guess you would rather have your felonious actions occur ON the ice (Paukovich) -- as opposed to petty misdemeanors off the ice. Is it just me, or when the words "castration" and "Prpich" come up in the same sentence, all I can see is Paukovich on the ice and Gwoz precariously perched on the boards?
heywood -- are you serious? I thought Paukovich DID take a clean run? As a eunuch, don't you epitomize the phrase oxymoron? You are one, aren't you?
11:00 and 11:04....you two are equally as dense, so I'll address to both of you: you endorse cup checks eh?? Ever play hockey?? Cup check someone and you deserve your ass kicked. You guys admire Prpich? I'm guessing the closest you've come to hockey is Playstation. You are the types that couldn't get laid in a morgue.
so you support a rapist before a gritty hockey player. And are you also saying that you think that what prpich did to pauko is even close to what he did to bina.
Paukovich's hit was in the heat of the moment - a snap on-ice action that was stupid and illegal, but not pre-meditated. He felt horribly about what he did, tried to apologize to Bina and was never the same player again after the hit.
Prpich's later castration attempt was pure 'vigilante justice' - pre-meditated, classless and cowardly, and otherwise par for the course for UND. Even worse were the UND fans who threatened Paukovich's life in Columbus and the mega -idiot who took a swing at Paukovich's father at Magness. Nice people, UND fans.
Maybe UND should bring in Todd Bertuzzi as a head coach. Knowing that disgrace he won't be in the NHL much longer.
Gotta love Sioux fans...they are truly a bunch of clowns and always good for a laugh. You people have to be the most insecure and brainwashed fans out there....it's classic. Still bringing up incidents from 3 years ago eh?? I guess that's what happens when you have nothing to do except go to hockey games, hit on your 2nd cousin at the family reunion, and watch your trailer home rust.
Who's that fat guy and stupid looking kid in the upper right corner?
Gotta love DU fans bringing up the past FIRST. UND fans just retaliated.
The "fat guy" is holding the 2004 National Championship trophy that DU won after Jesse Bull's brother beat UND 1-0 in the Springs and the "stupid looking kid" is holding the 2005 NC trophy that DU won against North Dakota.
Not pictured are the 1958 & 1968 National Championship trophies that DU won against UND.
Love the ambassadors of the sue and the state of ND... maybe they will take a hint from their "little" brother down south and read "Being Professional" by Coach Bohl.
Actually UND was a lot nastier when Dean Blaise was the coach. One of those teams that you hated but had to respect. Dean always kept it together (you knew he was excited when he would start ranting his fake tooth would reflect the light). When the TV camera was on Hakstol the other night every other word was f%$# you and f#$@ this (don't have to be much of a lip reader). Strange because he is a great guy when you meet him (and no I am not a Sioux fan but I have met him a few times). I think he is feeling pressure because the expectations are set so high each season. Hack need to reign it in a bit and he will be fine.
A little late, but what the ef. You conveniently left out that Bina's charges were DROPPED.
PS Prpich rocks!
