USHR (U.S. Hockey Report) is stating that Jason Zucker from Las Vegas, Nevada has committed to DU in 2010. Zucker is considered to be a major recruiting coup for the Pioneers outlasting Michigan, Miami & Maine to name just a few.

Zucker is described as a "high energy, high skilled and high tempo forward," by the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds Director of Player Personnel Colin Alexander.

Western College Hockey Blog described Zucker as, "A player that is really good with the puck."

This season he's been playing for Detroit Compuware. Next season he'll join the USNDT Under 17.

He is listed at 5'9 165 lbs. on the Compuware website. He's a left shooting centerman for Detroit.

is zucker a forward or defenseman? we need some size. another small maiani playing in the wcha could be tough, even though he does play for compuware.

J.Z. is the real deal. He makes good things happen for good teams, and DU is lucky to snag him. With a name like Zucker's, it has to be good ;-)

He's a left handed centerman. He's only 16 years old and there's two years before college so he'll fill in and get taller.

Anyone know how tall the Dad & Mom are? :-)

He's got some more time to grow since he's just turned 16 years old.

Welcome, Jason.

What exactly is Detroit Compuware? Is that just youth hockey?

Website:

The Detroit Compuware organization has a rich tradition and impressive track record since its inception in the mid 1970's. Founded by Compuware owner/president Peter Karmanos and Thomas Thewes, the organization envelops all age levels of hockey.

Detroit Compuware has placed over 75 players into the OHL or Division I college hockey via scholarship.

Jason Zucker plays for Compuware's AAA Minor Midget program (16 and under). Other teams in Detroit include Honeybaked and Little Caesars. Most of the elite players from these three teams end up at Michigan or Michigan State.

Youth hockey programs in Colorado mimic Compuware Hockey, include the Colorado Thunderbirds, Colorado Outlaws and Littleton Hawks. In Detroit and the midwest they use corporate names and sponsorships.

Zucker will play for the USNDT under 17 next season and most likely the USHL in 2009.

he's so determined! It runs in his family. His dad is short but mom is really tall. Denver is lucky to have him...
I'm a neighbor and i remember watching him grow up and watch him out side shooting pucks at his garage and he would hit the same spot dead on every time. He's fantastic.

being a fellow LAS VEGAN, i was so proud to see our city in the desert being represented by such a talented player!!!!! thanks JASON and thanks to your family for supporting you. coming from the east coast and growing up with the UTICA DEVILS, i was dissapointed in the lack of hockey support here. then really dissapointed when the THUNDER left. YOU made us all proud ... mandy
