Luke Salazar, a freshman forward at the University of Denver, has been named the Red Baron® WCHA Rookie of the Week as a result of his outstanding play in a victory over 2008 NCAA Men's Frozen Four runner-up and #4-ranked Notre Dame last Saturday in the annual U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game at Magness Arena in Denver, Colo.

A 5-7, 150-pounder from Thornton, Colo., Salazar scored his first two collegiate goals - one of which was the eventual game-winner - and added one assist for three scoring points as the host Pioneers upended the Fighting Irish, 5-2. He notched his first goal at 4:35 of the third period and then scored the game-winning goal at 7:15 of the final period.

In addition to his three points, Salazar led DU with a +2 plus/minus rating, fired four shots on goal, added three hits and blocked one shot.
