Two Defensive Recruits Making Waves In USHL

(left) DU recruit Matt Donovan leads USHL defensemen in goals

Defenseman Matt Donovan (12-16-28), who will join DU next season is having a sensational year for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders. He scored one goal and picked up one assist last Friday. Donovan leads USHL defensemen in goals and is now tied for lead among blue liners in points. He also leads his team with 7 power play goals.

Donovan's teammate, Paul Phillips, is also heading to DU and is having a very solid year as well. His stats (5-16-21) are impressive and he's +12 on the season. Phillips will be eligible for the NHL Draft this summer.

Looking forward to seeing Donovan and Philips here next season. With Donovan and Wiercioch (assuming he stays), DU should have a nice offensive presence on the blue line.
