News & Notes From Around Pioneer Nation

Incoming DU recruits Drew Shore & William Wrenn were at the NHL Combine this past weekend. TSN reported, "Drew Shore (#28) is fit but he looks like he still has a lot of room to fill out. He's in great shape but he needs to get stronger."

104 prospects were at the NHL Combine. Wrenn was in the Top 5 in the "Pull Test," while Shore scored well in the "Fatigue Index."

As expected Joe Colborne & Patrick Wiercioch has been named to the Team Canada tryout roster for the World Junior Championships in December. Only four college players are invited and two are from DU.

Would a team like trhe Bruins ever take Shore, and end up with two DU first-rounders?

Go to www.nhldraft.com to see where Shore is projected to go each week. These NHL mock drafts are usually pretty accurate in the 1st round to within a couple of picks.

Its looking more & more that NHL scouts think Shore is an "project" who is going to need at least three years to bulk up and fill in.

So teams like Boston, Chicago, Pittsburgh & Detroit who can afford to wait are likely candidates.

If Shore falls to the 2nd round it gets tricky because all the teams at the top of the draft need help immediately.
