Mike Chambers of the Denver Post visited practice yesterday and discovered' a couple of bombshells. Last years leading point scorer Anthony Maiani has been suspended for three games for violating a team rule. No mention about what caused the suspension, but three games including tonight's exhibition game against the University of Calgary is a pretty significant suspension.
Star defenseman Patrick Wiercioch will also miss tonight's game with the flu. No word if its the infamous "Swine Flu" that's been sweeping across college campuses this Fall, but this does seem to be unusually early in the year for a flu epidemic. We've been told that a flu bug has been going around the team, so DU might not be as sharp early in the season.
All these details plus some other interesting lineup adjustments are in Chambers article in the Post.

What's with these kids nowadays? In last year's pre-season game Denver had 4 guys suspended. They better get it through thier head that when they come back in the fall, it means summer vacation is over!
come on gwoz, just suspend him for 1, we need him for uvm
bad boyz
DU almost always has a token suspension to begin the season. It's just Gwoz' way saying that he won't take any shit...
Geez, this is embarassing. Maiani, as one of the leaders, needs to set an example.
c'mon boys, this is a national championship season coming up here... in the words of wanda sykes, "Get it together baby!!!"
Dg,
Thought the DU players walked on water and all the other players in the country were thugs?
