The Pios had a battle on their hands all weekend. Give MSU a lot of credit--they played well. I'd be shocked if they are at the bottom of the standings come the end of the season--that's a good team.

If DU's PK is a little sharper it's a 4-point weekend. However, I'll gladly take 3 points.

Given that DU had to play Murray for 60% of the weekend, a three point split is fine. I think DU likely would have swept had Chevy not gotten hurt, but in this league, a three point weekend is a fine performance. Murray is still a nervous freshman, but he seemed to settle down as the game went on.

MSUM always plays DU tough, and this weekend was no exception.

Would have like to seen a better performance from the top line - MSUM really shut them down.

Great to see the students into the game all weekend and cheering on their classmates. I hope that they can keep it up later in the year.

Now, off to Alaska, where Murray will be playing in front of his hometown. He'll need to shake off the early nerves play better if DU is to do well up there.

Seems like Jokinen got pretty good at running our goalies this weekend. Perhaps giving him a pass for running Chevy on Friday was a bit premature?

Someone needs to take Jokinen's head off!

It seems you last 2 anons need to go read the threads after the friday night game (or better yet, chill out and learn something about hockey). Based on all reactions on the ice, no one (that matters, i.e. players and coaches) seemed to think Jokinen did anything wrong Friday night, and as noted previously, our guy tied him up and caused the collision with Chevy, just bad luck, that happens in hockey. As far as the pic of the OT collision last night, thats a snap-shot, need to put it in the context of the play. However as someone noted in another thread, the WCHA refs need to do a better job of protecting the keepers.

"let go mavs" posted this link on the happy halloween thread.

Its from the TV broadcast, easy to see, not a hard or iffy play by anyone, just dumb luck

Son, I have been a hockey fan for 30 years, I do know hockey and I was at the game both nights (were you?). I saw what happened and I might remind you that Jokinen was sent to the box on Saturday night for running Murray. We are down to 2 goalies now and could have been down to one goalie after running Murray on Saturday so quit pretending to be such an expert.

Just watched the You Tube video from Fri. night and that looked like an accident. The run at Murray in OT Saturday did not.

You're exactly right. The Chevy thing was a freak; so much so that I challenge you to see that ever happen again to a DU goalie. And yes, the stripes rightfully nailed him for charging Adam. One refreshing thing about this series is that there weren't too many after-whistle scrums and misconduct penalties. I expected the on-ice DU defense to go apeshit on Jokinen after those 2 plays.... but everyone more or less kept thier cool. Is that a sign of smart playing?? Hope so. No more Testwuide-style ripping off the helmet & dropping the gloves.... I hope.
