News & Notes From Around PioNation

The Toronto Star.Com has a blurb about incoming DU recruit Beau Bennett. In an article about DU Alum Tyler Bozak, The Star called Bennet, "The next Tyler Bozak." Of course the Maple Leafs may need to make a trade to get back into the First Round.

If you want to read about Tyler Bozak in Canada this week all you have to do is pick up a newspaper. It doesn't matter which one, because it seems like he is featured in just about all of the them. The National Post, CBC.com, Metro Canada, plus another 100 sites mention Bozak and the University of Denver hockey program.

The DU hockey team will fly to Minneapolis-St. Paul today. Tonight on the agenda is the WCHA awards banquet. Mike Chambers Blog is predicting a steady stream of Pioneers making their way to the podium. According to Chambers, the ten Hobey Baker finalists will be announced tonight as well. DU has a couple of candidates.

Kevin Pates of the Duluth News Tribune has a very good WCHA Final Five preview. It featues a quote from Coach Gwozdecky from Tuesday's Media Conference Call.

More news - I am VERY pissed off today because "JoJo in the Morning" is all of the sudden no longer on the Kool 105fm morning show in Denver. JoJo has filled in on the PA at DU for hockey, Basketball & Gymnastics. Super nice guy. I've chatted with him at a couple hockey games.... and I listened to his morning show every single day without fail.
Love ya, Jo Jo..... hope you're back on the radio soon and I hope you stay at DU. Screw Kool 105

Beau Bennett is currently rated #25 by the ISS. He seems to move up every month.

Joe Colborne moved up the ISS lists in a similar fashion. Colborne ended up at #16 on the ISS list.

Bennett was #48 in Jan., #30 in Feb & now #25 in March.

Bennett also has two hometown teams that will take a long look at him. The Kings & Ducks.
