The last goaltender from Nova Scotia turned out to be pretty good for the University of Denver (Marc Cheverie). Now comes word that another goaltender from Halifax has his eyes set on playing college hockey. Justin Colllier is looking at DU, Maine and Sacred Heart as well as various major junior teams.
Justin Collier's Stats

Colorado College has added the Great Lakes Invitational Tourney to their 2010-11 hockey schedule. They are replacing Boston University who pulled out at the last minute. CC will play Michigan State and either Michigan or Michigan Tech in Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. The University of Denver hockey team will participate in the 5th Annual Hockey Day Minnesota on Saturday, Feb 12, 2011. Hockey Day Minnesota 2011 on FOX Sports North will include a full day of hockey-related programming designed as a celebration of the game from peewees to pros. The city of Moorhead will serve as the background for the outdoor boys high school games featured in the Hockey Day events. DU will play the University of Minnesota in Mariucci Arena.

Real GM's NHL Mock Draft is interesting for DU fans because it mentions that incoming freshman Beau Bennett could be selected anywhere from 12th-45th this weekend. Anaheim at #12 seems like a good fit for Bennett. St. Louis (#14), Florida (#15), Ottawa (#16), Colorado (#17) and Los Angeles (#19) could also be logical landing spots for Bennett if he were to go in the middle of the First Round.

I've seen Bennett go as high as 16 to Ottawa in Mock Drafts and Jason Zucker also appear at #20 to Pittsburgh in one. I also saw Zucker landing at 29 to Anaheim in another. Brittain should go anywhere from the 2nd-6th round, it all depends on how teams feel about the league he played in and his statistics within that league. An interesting thing to note also is that Adam Murray is also eligible and I wouldnt be surprised if a team to a 7th round shot at him due to the quality of DU goaltenders. I mean Chevy didn't even appear until his sophomore year and hopefully with a little work under Dr. Evil we'll see some improvement. But I still would not be surprised at all to see Murray selected late.
I would be VERY, VERY, VEEERRRRRYYYY surprised if any NHL is even considering drafting The Goal Flurry Murray, much less actually planning on drafting him.
Maybe he'll go a pick after Dewhurst and a pick before Mermis. LOL....
It sounds like Collier is looking to play this upcoming season at another level. Would he come in as a walk-on and replace Paugaard???
It appears DU senior-to-be Josh Rosenholtz will be one of DU's goalies this upcoming season. He is listed on the 2010/11 roster on the DU website. He played prep hockey at the Proctor School in NH before coming to DU in 2006/07. He apparently played on the DU roller hockey team.
Good; the GLI 'Tourney has been looking high and low for a sucky team to throw in there since the Wayne State Warriors folded. Problem solved. Only WSU was a little more talented than the Tigers are.
