Former DU hockey coach Murray Armstrong's health has been deteriorating in recent months. He has suffered a series of strokes. The family has asked for privacy from well-wishers, as his wife Freda is not in the best of health. Armstrong is considered to be one of the greatest coaches in the history of college hockey, winning five National Championships at DU from 1958-1969. Murray also played in the NHL from 1937-1946.

Congrats to the University of Denver women's basketball team which defeated No. 23 Vanderbilt 70-65 at Magness Arena on Sunday, the Pioneers' first win ever over a ranked team. The Pioneers (4-4) defeated Colorado earlier in the season and got a taste of ranked competition in a 73-51 loss to then-No. 17 Georgia on Nov. 26, but this was a true marquee moment for Johnson and his squad.

Former DU Captain Andy Thomas was promoted to the AHL Albany Devils from the ECHL.

He leads the team in +/- and has moved up to seventh on the teams scoring table with 7 goals and 3 assists in 17 games.
