I believe Friday nights game on FSN North is tape delayed to 9pm central time...

Great news since PioneerVision can’t get their act together.

Friday night's game on FCS Central is live at 8 PM ET, 7PM CT, 6PM MT and 5PM PT.

Pioneer vision is borderline useless.

du78 said...

There is a conflict on the FCS Central Friday hockey schedule with the DU/MN and UND/UAA games both listed at the same time. Their regular schedule says the UND/UAA game will be shown :-(

The only thing Pioneer Vision is good for is getting a radio feed, with Stickney and Raycroft, out here in England. I need to invest in a slingbox.

I think Pioneer Vision is worth it just to hear Stickney and Reycroft between commercials. They are probably becoming my favorite radio duo of all time.

I miss Sandy Clough

Why is tonight's game tape delayed on FSNRM?

du78 said...

Just checked the FCS schedule and Friday's game is also tape delayed at 8PM MT on FCS Atlantic.

If you have the Fox Sports package it will be live on FSN North (in HD!)

Sandy Clough … hahahaha. He has to be the worst sportscaster in DU history. I thought that Clough might post here as Swami. Clough is THAT bad!

Anonymous said...

Clough was way better than Rycroft. Might not be as easy to like when he knows more than you think you do (or you think he does) about most sports out there. He was the best at taking a very critical look at every game, every player, every coaching decision, and asking the questions to go along with it.

I thought the fact that he's basically a third party (not a DU alum or homer) was a nice difference from the rest of the DU broadcast teams.

Aluuum said...

I know Sandy and first of all-he's a good guy. Yes anon, he is a bit long winded in his analysis but he is not sfraid to be critical when he thinks it is deserved; not a homer like some announcers. He does his homework and is always well prepared for whatcver game he is covering.

Has anyone ever watched the dynamic duo that do the TV broadcast of the ND games?

Talk about homers

Anonymous said...

The one UND guy (the color commentator) always looks like he's soiling his Depends whenever they show him.

Anonymous said...

Rycroft is awesome. Love him!!

Anonymous said...

I heard Sandy Clough give a half hour analysis of the Broncos front line DURING a DU hockey game. While the game is going on this idiot is talking about football. Long winded and clueless, that’s Sandy Clough. He’s the worst sportscaster in Colorado of all time.

Aluuum,

If you know Sandy, you might recommend that he find a new line of work.

Anonymous said...

What is Norm Jones doing these days?

Anonymous said...

Norm, the man with a tan.

Rycroft was a college and professional hockey player. He let's you see the game from an insiders perspective. And he does it in a fun and funny way.

Clough ... zzzzz. He has even less experience than the waterboy. What a dud!

If you're talking about stinkin up the announcers booth you gotta mention Charlie Host on FSN. I don't know what Gwoz did to him when he was a player but he's just got a nasty attitude toward anything related to the DU program. Maybe he's just overcompensating. Maybe he's jealous that Rycroft got the Avalanche gig.

Aluuum said...

Watching Alaska vs. No. Dagoona on FCS. Dagoona just scored on a face off. If you want to criticize announcers watch this game. it's on FNC.

Just cause you've played the game doesn't automatically make you a better broadcaster than someone who hasn't. Only gets you so far.

Scoreless in the middle of second period D.U. -Minn

Aluuum said...

! to 1 after two.

Aluuum said...

Pios win it 2 to 1

Mark Rycroft is the best color man in college hockey. He freakin' knows the game and calls people out.

Are we going to get the game the minute this bball game is over?? I am on Directv

Did Swami jinx DU with his prediction of a split?

It's gettin' ugly...the Goofs are taking us to hockey school tonight. Both teams played well last night...tonight, we are a step behind, passes in the skates, falling down and Murray is in after 4 goals on Sammy.

Anonymous said...

Can anyone access the live chat, or is someone showing mercy to us?

DU/CC Dad said...

One period to go...maybe it's good that we had a night like this BEFORE the NCAA's. The Dogs had their night last night which was way ugly too 8-2 to St. Cloud. I was wondering when the Goofs would finally show up...too bad its tonight against DU!

The result aside, seeing the video from Hockey Day Minnesota really makes ya think what the DU program could be like every night in Magness if the athletic department got their head out of their ass and started putting a little more effort into the hockey game night experience. The Gophers pack Mariucci every game, even when the team sucks. They always have cheerleaders, a huge band, etc. Just think what DU would be like with that kind of atmosphere game in and game out.

Anonymous said...

What the fu**?? Did DU forget to show up tonight??

Anonymous said...

At a minimum couldn't DU at least have the band there every game? It brought a lot of energy to the CC game last Saturday. It must be beneath the dignity of the music school.

Anonymous said...

Minny ripped us a new one today.

Anonymous said...

Anon @7:11. DU will never ever have a crowd like that, athletics could tell the students that they giving each of them $10 just to show up to the game, they still wouldn't. (or have any clue who Jason Zucker is)
For DU to fill up Magness they have to concentrate on the community and families. It is about socializing and taking the 7 yr old to the game. Not a good recipe for an exciting college hockey environment.
DU's culture has to change to improve this, which I don't see happening in the near future.

my $0.02 on the announcers:

Clough-say what you will about him, but he knows college hockey and enjoys it. He is the only guy on the biggest sports radio station in Denver who gives a damn about college hockey. He's my favorite guy on The Fan because of it.

Rycroft-he's a blast to listen to and knows hockey (both college and pros) so well. He adds a unigue insight and makes the radio broadcast better.

Host-you're nuts if you think he's anti-DU. However, he is the most impartial announcer I've ever listened to (and I've listened to everyone in the WCHA). I enjoy Charlie as well.

In general-everyone used to rip on the Rug and Wooger. You listen to those new guys this weekend? They suck. The broadcast is 100% worse. To everyone ripping on our announcers-be careful what you wish for.

I don't think DU will ever have a Big 10 level of fan support, due to the samll school size, private status and a saturated sports market full of non-natives who keep old sports alliances.

That said, we have made big strides in the last 5 years in terms of the game night experience at Denver.

The fact that we have have band at 10 hockey games a year is relatively new, the fight song from 1916 is now well-known after years of neglect. Boone is a new addition to game night, and rink is much louder at least vs the bigger name opponents. We are lucky to have one of the best blogs in college hockey, and you also see more tradtions returning all the time - the south wall history mural, the 60th anniversary jerseys, etc.

All in all, people are working really hard to improve game night, both withing the athletic dept and outside of it.
