Chambers Blog Visits DU & Maple Leafs Practices

From: Mike Chambers Blog

The Toronto Maple Leafs and University of Denver Pioneers practiced at the same time today inside the Ritchie Center on Wednesday. The Leafs were at Joy Burns Arena, the Pioneers at Magness Arena. With both Zamboni doors open, one team could see the other [read entire article].

Bozak. What a class act, and a great ambassador for the program and the school. I believe Matt Carle also returned to finish his degree, am I wrong?

I applaud so many hockey alums who still support the program. I believe I read on the blog that Carle and Stasny help fund the purchase of the 60th anniversary jersey's. Bozak and Mannino should certainly be included in that group.

The Position Has Been Filled.

Michigan State Hires CCHA commissioner Tom Anastos.

MS-why should anyone answer your question?

UDenver20 said...

Anastos going to MSU is good for us. Hopefully PSU doesn't pose a threat to Gwoz staying here at DU.

dggoddard said...

If Gwozdecky leaves its because DU doesn't want him or can't afford him. It would be a sin because if anyone deserves a lifetime contract at DU its our coach.

Recruiting is at an all time high, almost every player is WCHA all-academic, the NHL knows all about his program & success developing players and ten-plus 20 win seasons speaks for itself.

If Gwoz leaves then expect the results we saw in the 80's.

Mannino you are the laughing stock of USCHO and here. You have zero cred. Thanks for playing. Suck it!

Anon - Without me your life would be boring. You're lucky just to be in my orbit.

Speaking of orbits, get your head out of Uranus.

Trolls aren't allowed here, shoo.

I agree with Mannino Saves. If you attack him personally, your posts will be deleted.

Focus on the content and not messenger.

@ Miller

You obviously have no clue as to the quality of candidates DU gets when there is an opening. Jeff Jackson was really the frontrunner when Gwoz was hired, but he has tendency to not stay anywhere too long and that was what did in his chances. If Gwoz leaves, there will be no shortage of qualified candidates.
The biggest reason the '80s were mostly a struggle for DU was declining enrollment and, thus, extreme budget cuts to stuff like the hockey program...Ralph Backstrom barely even had a recruiting budget -- there were years back then that they literally recycled jerseys from the year before...they would just take off the number and name and replace them with the new ones.
A booster club called the Pioneer Club helped raise money to supplement the steadily declining hockey budget...they paid for recruiting trips, sticks and when they finally got new jerseys, amongst other stuff.
It's a completely different situation nowadays...

Mannino Saves is THE TROLL of all time...kinda funny that he would have gall to call someone a troll

Anonymous said...

yep, protect an atagonist and a shit disturber. Mannino Saves isn't worth it. His act is transparent and of no value.

More political correctness. Has DG begun to suckle at the tit of Chancellor Coombe? Perhaps there should be an appeal to a diversity subcommittee.

That's a joke boy.

maybe instead of dggoddard....he has now become pcgoddard....meh.....

PCGoddard...the great defender of mannino saves, the weak...

Hey, ms, how bout refreshing our memories on how if Pauko were shifted to defense he would be in the NHL now. LOL.

There's a difference between being PC for the touchy-feely side of it and trying to keep the content on a HOCKEY BLOG focused on hockey. There's plenty of other places on the internet to be an asshole. I don't come here for bickering, I come here for the hockey. Sadly, we're becoming a smaller constituency on the comments of this blog.

The comment about Bozak , might be the first positive post MS has made. Normally he talks crap about players or recruits and then dissapears. He is gutless, unaccountable and lacks the knowledge to break down a players skill set.

dggoddard said...

Well said Jordan.

Congrats to you personally on a great year of leading the D.U. Grilling Society. Your efforts led to higher student turnouts at hockey games.

The DU Grilling Society has become a fixture on campus and is one of many positive student led initiatives on campus in the past several years.

Other positive events this season included the response of PioNation to the Jesse Martin injury, both "White-Outs" and the inspired play of our hockey team.

Some of you really belong back in elementary school.

What is with all the immature, classless, and plain stupid comments on the blog lately?

I come here to read about hockey, not this BS bickering.

ISayISay said...

The Code Red movement didn't make it on the positive events list?

What about the SUCK IT campaign?

That's a joke boy.

Harumph...

Trolls on the internet, say it ain't so.

However, if one does not want to deal with them .. one should not take their bait and start screaming about it.

There is no such thing as "out trolling the troll"; it just turns into two or more retarded monkeys fucking a football.

And now I am out of bourbon...

Oh yes, one more thing -- UDenver20: you're a moron.

harumph.

I truly feel sorry for the peeps that hate. Life is too short to troll on a blog. Get your heads right.

As for grilling, I have my NY Strip cooling to room temperature before I put it on the Weber. Hopefully it will not rain on me. I've got the Colorado Pepper Rub on it, as well as the Theo's marinade. Going to be epic to dine on it and watch Matt Carle assist on 3 Flyers goals tonight!

Peeps? Like Easter eggs?

People (yeah, people, you ghetto mf'er) shouldn't take a blog so seriously.

Who gives a crud about your steak?

BTW, I just had the best green chile in town and 3 margs. So what?

Oh, yeah, obligatory hockey statement: I, too, intend to watch Matt Carle get 3 assists...

Talk about lame. Life is too short to talk about your steak on a blog.

DG,

Is there any way to get idiots like the guy above banned from the blog? What a nuisance.

Thanks, but congrats are due to the next generation. It's their show this year. I was the last of the founders to be around and am involved in a very limited capacity anymore while I'm in grad school.

Next year we're hoping for an even better tailgate environment- perhaps with pub tables for hanging out, and maybe even beer every time. Tell your friends- we want to be a pregame destination.

Code Red might not have succeeded as well as some other pushes, but at least DG's out there working on it. Far more productive than complaining about Swami all day.

DG or other DU fans, I really can't imagine anyone else besides Gwoz coaching our heated rival the DU Pioneers.

Got to see him speak this past weekend at couple of press conferences and the man definitely had a presence about him.

I said on the radio the other day that I gained a whole new respect For George Gwozdecky as he always thanks the opponent he just played and he was very good at answering trap door questions from the media.

I think DU will keep him if they want to continue under his tutelage if not they are crazy.

Goon - please stop posting here. I enjoy hating the Sioux and you constantly ruin that feeling with your thoughtful and rational posts. Please refer to Gwoz as the Dasher Monkey and talk about how the Sioux will destroy the Pioneers on Saturday. Thanks :-)
