That guy must be related to Hakstol. I guess this must be their way of communicating.

pesimisticfan said...

I thought UND was destined to win....according to all of those classless posts the day we lost to them. Let's go Bulldogs!

Anonymous said...

He has to be related to Hakstol, in fact, he is probably related to half the ND there last night. You know how they are with inbreeding...

Anonymous said...

I cannot explain how happy I am, that North Dakota couldn't cut it. Good - but noot good enough. Yes, the Pioneers were in the same boat.... but dang this feels good!
Hope the Bulldogs represent the WCHA and take down the blue & gold

My favorite part is the Michigan player, Caporusso, flipping off the fan!

North Dakota is a joke. The school, fans and team are a disgrace to society.

Anonymous said...

This should not surprise anybody. All they have is some also ran hockey team in that state. They have to go back there...how happy would you be? Their woman are fat and the livestock looks good at closing time.

Anonymous said...

I sure am glad I'm not a boy named Sue!

Anonymous said...

It was priceless to see the stunned north Dakota hags and fat boyz after the loss. Back to the plains with you. Thanks, Michigan!

Dirvin said...

Don't you usually give SOME credit to the team that beats you as a sign of respect? I guess that's not part of Sioux culture.

Anyway, I couldn't be happier this morning. Michigan did exactly what it needed to do and they were indeed the better team.

I truly thought this was the Sioux's year. They were playing good hockey down the stretch, hot goalie, healthy, lot's of leadership. Just shows you how hard it is to win a championship. That said, I don't know if this one is any more painful than the numerous other Sioux FF FLOPS.

Anonymous said...

Isn't that Sioux fan the chancellor of UND?

Anonymous said...

While I am not a UND fan, I despise Michigan so this is lose-lose proposition.

Anonymous said...

While I do admire the passion of Sioux fans (and wish we had more passion in our own fan base here at DU) seeing a grown 40+ year old Sioux fan flipping off a college player like that is nothing short of appalling.

I've seen DU students do that kind of thing (and expect some stupid stuff from college kids), but I haven't seen our adult fans slipping into the this kind of abyss of hatred. I hope I never do.

Here in Pioneer land, we've learned to accept losing as well as winning, and while we don't have as many passionate fans as other schools do, at least we have some perspective.

I also feel bad for the good Sioux fans who don't deserve tools like this representing them.

miller said...

This is typical of ND fans. I got into a confrontation with a UND fan at Magness when I mentioned it was inappropriate to add "...home of the sioux" at the end of the National Anthem. I don't care who does something like that, it's way out of line.

Of course if they use Hakstol as a role model then I guess you can expect behavior like this to continue.

See ya next season sious fans.

vizoroo said...

The sioux should have enjoyed winning the MacNaughton and the Broadmoor instead of thinking they were playing for the Stanley Cup.

Shram said...

Yeeeeaaahhh Michigan!!, F*** N.D.

Now, go UMD!!!

Twister said...

Exciting games yesterday. I'll be pulling for Duluth tomorrow.

I gave Michigan a fighting chance, but I was very surprised at that result. I thought this was UND's year, and after pumping in 12 goals in the regional, I certainly pegged them to win yesterday. Can't believe those guys were shutout. They seemed to have all the ingredients to win it all this year. I wasn't exactly crying in my beer, though.

Anonymous said...

As a gopher fan of 25 years I would expect nothing less from a soiux fan. I agree with the earlier poster about it being a lose lose in that nothing hurts more than hearing how great the blue and gold are if they win, but watching nodak lose still is priceless. Go umd.

Some interesting stats on how hard it is to win a National Championship in college hockey.

Hakstol has been to 5 out of the last 7 Frozen Fours and only has one FF victory.

Red Berenson has been to the last 20 NCAA Tournaments and only has two championships. That's despite regularly hosting NCAA Regionals in or around Michigan, often having first round byes in the old format and having Top 5 recruiting classes every year.

Jerry York has a 61 wins (61-16) in the NCAA Tournament but only has four National Championships.

The best team (overall #1 seed) rarely wins the Tournament.

Gwozdecky, Lucia and York are the only coaches to ever win 8 consecutive NCAA Tournament games.

It's a shame that Eddie Belfore played there - because he's truly a champion and classy guy... certainly not someone you expect from Grand Forks. Interestingly enough - he didn't play there long.
Looking forward to seeing DU sweep them next year in Colorado - which I think is a very very big possibility!

Management lesson 101:
Employees reflect management.
The reason the N.D. players are goons and cheap shot artists is that is how they are led by coach Hackstel, the preeminent goon. This will never change as long as he is there.

Ketchup and Mustard said...

Their fans should use some of that budget surplus we keep hearing about and buy some class.

Anonymous said...

Um Belfour is not From Grand Forks (he is Canadian). Played at UND 1 year. Also, if you consider someone who was known for his repeated drunken altercations during his pro career and alleged domestic violence as a "classy guy" well then you must be from North Dakota...

Anonymous said...

I love Sioux fans....win or lose, those turds always provide good comic relief.

Anonymous said...

Ketchup and Mustard... hilarious!

Anonymous said...

Talk about lack of CLASS! Look at 99% of the posts on here. What a bunch of LOSERS.

mexico said...

The video has been taken down… What a huge bummer! Now I have to wait until next season to watch a North Dakota fan act like a giant steaming turd.

Anonymous said...

I think i'll go buy myself some more money...

Does anyone know how I can register for Hakstol's "Techniques for the One-Finger Salute" class? I'm a few credits short of graduation.

dggoddard said...

I believe the three credit class is called "Ethics & Sportsmanship" taught by Professor Hakstol at the University of North Dakota.

Im not a UND fan at all, but come on DU people!! I have gone to DU games and I have seen DU fans give the finger to UNO,UM,UND, and CC guys. So before you question someones class you better look around your own building.

Anonymous said...

Kristo to coach Hak on why he will leave early: me failed english, thats umpossable

Anonymous said...

I have been to a lot of DU games and have never once seen this from an ADULT fan - college students are stupid and do stupid shit.

@ anon 1:59

Fortunately for us there is evidence; Unfortunately for you, you have none.

It's not what you know, it's what you can prove.

So, f-off...

pesimisticfan said...

I agree with Anon at 1:59PM. I mean Im a huge DU phan. But honestly, who hasnt given the finger to another team during a heated game (especially after about 6 Molson's at Magness). I know I have. I can specifically recall myself doing it to the old Mankato goalie Cook, along with several others in the "Below the Bar" section or "Drunk Tank." I also recall our phans throwing beer bottles at Gopher players in November of 2004 after a late game loss when Fisher puked up a late goal, one of which hit the head of Danny Irman. I even got nearly arrested for tossing a $25 Magness carved sandwich at Nathan Lawson when we scored in OT on them in '05 I believe and the goal had to be reviewed. Every team has their phans that have flaws. But, the Sioux fans are worse than all. We throw food, plastic bottles, and make funny t-shirts. Where Sue fans are abusive to reporters, our players on the bench and physically assault other fans.

Anonymous said...

I hope that this guy gets alot of crap for this - I wonder if he feels like an idiot today.

Anonymous said...

Haha, UND fans, never change

dggoddard said...

Here's the dealio. This is a non-story if this guy is wearing a dress shirt.

Here's wearing a Sioux shirt so when its blasted across every major sports blog in the country and on national TV via ESPN he not only embarrasses himself, but it reflects poorly on the fanbase and the school.

Plenty of Sioux fans and writers have condemned this guys actions, so its not like we're stirring up trouble. Its just a handy metaphor for the entire program.

Joe Colborne was called up today by the Toronto Maple Leafs for the season finale against Montreal on Hocley Night in Canada on Saturday night..

For a Canadian kid, that's quite the stage for a debut...

I assumed that private colleges in Denver required some sort of English requirements for graduation? Wow, all that money spent on an education, but yet, almost no firm grasp on the English language.

Anonymous said...

At least most DU fans have other things to do besides go on other teams' blogs and complain that we bitch about our rivals... how unacceptable and classless to do it on our turf. Surely we should take a page and do it on a Sioux site. Our bad.

Anonymous said...

Exactly.

How many DU fans are crapping on Sioux Sports, Goon's World or even Brandon's blog?

A: Zero.

How many Sioux fans crap on DU here?

A: Many.

Anonymous said...

It's always tough to route for a team that DU can never beat.

Anonymous said...

Fans Flip off the players on the first goal too. Fighting Sioux Culture all class.

Sara said...

You DU fans go on and on about class. Based on all the comments here, I don't see much class from your end either. So I wouldn't be so quick to judge ALL North Dakota fans about a lack of class. There are bad seeds, but all fanbases have those.

Anonymous said...

Go read your own boards, Sioux fans. You'll find plenty of anti-Pioneer commentary to entertain yourselves.

The difference is that DU fans rarely (if ever) go on your boards to trash UND, while UND fans come on here all the time to trash us.

Imaws Kcup said...

11:52, are you really that stupid? You got us this year but we beat you in '04 and '05. We've also had plenty of success against the Sioux in the WCHA playoffs and regular season over the past several years.

This is why this is the best rivalry in the country right now. We play eachother in huge games every season and both teams have had success.

Anonymous said...

With all due respect to the storied DU-CC tradition and the many great student atheletes fom the Tigers and the Pioneers after all these years.....I'm now 100% convinced, that CC is not our biggest rivalry - the Fighting Sioux are. I consider CC our greatest tradition - but I consider North Dakota our greatest rivalry. PERIOD. Look for Denver to sweep these wierdos in Magness next year - and doing it live on Root TV, in front of a sea of green fans.... makes it even more sweeter. GO DU! - Good bye SIOUX!

The significant difference between C.C. and No. Dagooona is that C.C. players are all legitimate college students taking real college accredited courses.

dead_rabbit said...

What's with all the whining about Sioux fans heckling Pios on one of their blogs? BFD

Pretty soon you'll be complaining about Sioux fans yelling "SIOUX" during the National Anthem.

We don't complain that tGwoz and Bruce McClown are best of buds.

UND= racist nickname, arrogantly holding an entire nd native american nation over the barrel.
Briggs & Frattin & drunken lawnmower throwing. Snowbank Kristo getting kicked out of his gf's apt cuz he was so drunk then falling in a snowbank. 14 canadians,
Fan flipping off mich, coach flipping off ref on FSN, fan punching hole in the wall at XCEL ARENA (startribune blog) and now, last but not least, a NAZI sympthazier giving 100 million. just complete A holes up there.

Wow, more DU fans posting here than I see at ND / DU hockey games in Denver. As a lifelong SIOUX fan, I am so happy that people in Denver care so little about college hockey that getting tickets is never a problem. GO SIOUX!!!!!!!!!!!
