Last Friday night was an incredible Pregame BBQ. Amazing crowds, great fun and lots of psyched fans.

The entire event was developed, hosted and paid for by the Student Homecoming Committee, DU Student Government and various spirit Committees.

It was the most attended student-organized event I have seen in a long time.

Our students are really starting to embrace school spirir,

I'm troubled by all of this "school spirit" nonsense. It's clear we have to go back to the old days, with students stopped and frisked on their way into the game. School spirit found in these searches had to be dumped in large plastic garbage cans. Clearly we made a mistake when we stopped hiring guys who were too tough for the Einsatzgruppen to provide "security" during the games. I was pretty astonished and embarrassed to see happy, enthusiastic students at the games last week. As Barney Fife would say: "we've got to nip this in the bud." I weep for DU. The idea that the noise and excitement generated by these "students" would interfere with our beloved older fans and their sleep cycles is just unacceptable. We've got to do something before it's too late or we'll be having these disgusting displays of "school spirit" all season long. Oh, the humanity.

The students are going to host these "Pioneer Pregame" events before every Saturday night game this season. Free T-Shirts, DUGS BBQ & $3 beers from 5-7 PM.

Student organizations can apply for the 10 tent/booths available and give away swag and promote their "causes" to the students, alumni & fans.

D.U.G.S. will still have BBQ before every Friday night game.

Long range if these events continue to grow, DU may be able to find corporate sponsors and have "free beer tents" and the like.

DG-

I think d.u.g.s. just does Saturday games, that's always been the case.
