Random Thoughts/Observations:

Nice to see DG and the wine and cheese crowd actually show up for the first period. Also a plus, DG was not sporting the too tight 57 sweater or a toga or the all white pimp outfit. CO14ers was a no show, no word on how the 86’d bet turned out.
------
Nice to see so many students at the game!
------
DU is always hospitable to the opposing teams fans. Great idea to have them on one end rather than spread out throughout the stands as in prior years. The World Arena has become another black hole. One of the worst venues if you’re not a CC fan. And who’d want to be a CC fan, CC SUCKS!
------
Love that the students sing the National Anthem loud and proud! Sad but the CC fans cheers were louder than the DU students much of the night. Maybe it’s because of the tired cheers stolen from other universities. The fight song is great but doesn’t DU have any other traditions of its own?
-----
The pep band seems out of sync with the PA announcer and recorded music. You couldn’t even hear the pep band on their march around the rink over the announcements. How does the band get past the ushers on the “exclusive” side of the rink anyway?
-----
Cheerleaders! Nice to see the cheerleaders at a hockey game.
-----
Great to see DUGS and other student groups take a leadership role with the festivities.

Don't know what side of the ice you sat on but the student section was rocking it. They defiantly put the World Arena to shame... hell you can hear a pin drop in there.

That was the DU dance team under the band, not the cheerleaders. Cheerleaders were on the concourse selling hockley programs to raise money for themselves.

There are few orginial cheers in college hockey. Even the best student sections learned from others - Michigan learned most of its cheers from a Cornell visit in the early 90s, for example.

We are stuck in that we rarely get many student visitors from other schools. Oh we get fans from CC, North Dakota and MInnesota, but most of those are local alums, and not students.

At this point, I am just glad to see our students making serious noise. That's a victory - it's too bad the rest of the Denver crowd is not emotionally invested enough to be vocal except after goals.
